U.S. troops in the restive Iraqi town of Fallujah deploy a new tactic in their efforts to quell Iraqi insurgents: arresting the mothers of suspected militants. But the move prompts angry demonstrations by local tribesmen. The women have now been released.

8. Typical thug mentality

If you can't get someone to do what you want by threatening/committing bodily harm, move on to his loved ones. Almost always works, in a one on one situation at least.

Stupid policies like this though only create more "terrorism". Locking old women in prison will not get a population on your side. Those that supported us will be more hesitant, fence sitters will now actively help to fight us, and those that were fighting us will be more bold.

Because, lets analyze this:

When someone sees you as an invader, a conqueror, a tyrant, and an overall threat to his well being and way of life, then you want him to understand that you are not a threat to him, but that you want to help him.

Really, there is no better way to calm someone down; as well as show him that you are his friend, his ally, and not a threat to him or his family.

And the best way to do that is to kidnap his mothet.

from the Ayn Rand institute was advocating getting rid of protests and marches in Iraq. he was also for , although he didn't say it explicitly, striking fear in the hearts of Iraquis. Well, that would be the response to his policies.

remember! When a drug bust is made, the bustee's home is seized (there was a old granny got booted out after her grandson busted for possesion)...Also i recall that the rule was changed so public housing can be denied retroactively if any person living there gets arrested (for anything(?))
face it, the same vile mentality hurts the US citizen more then anyone...
