Advice for the New Poor, all the links, and a Thank YOU!

Just to say thanks to all the people who have said such nice things to me, my head is completely turned now :)

Please feel free to repost it wherever you like, it is rough, and when I have time I will try to clean it up a little bit, maybe even correct the typos if I get ambitious.

One thing I wanted to make clear for those who may not know: this is NOT a vision of the future, but the reality of the present. I was very careful to avoid extrapolation or predictions. Everything in there, from the chips in the shopping carts to the security guards at the supermarkets, is happening today.

What will happen in the future?

I don't know, it is your story.

Here are links to all 9 parts. Thanks to everyone for keeping it bumped.

2. It is the reality of today for many ...
It is the reality of tomorrow for many, many more of us who are still hanging on to the illusion of being one of "Them."

And in that sense, DF, it is both present and prologue. A dark vision of today for those who would desperately prefer not to see.

6. This is why we are so desperate to convince people to vote for Dennis
He and Al are the only ones talking about turning this around.

The disabled community has a term for the obliviously-non-disabled: TABs, 'Temporarily Able-Bodied'. As many find out the hard way, none of us are more than one mischance away from disability ourselves.

How many of us are really immune from poverty? They're the only ones who might have the luxury of voting for a tweaker.

Will the rest of us 'get it' in time? I'm not sanguine.
