France, Germany, and Russia...
Why is it that the freepers hate these countries so much...?

I was involved in a discussion the other day at a outside cafe...and we were talking about the countries that have donated money to Iraq for reconstruction...I brought up France, Germany and Russia not getting involved...as we were talking a woman at the next table said..."We don't need their commie money...We can do this all on our own...We should boycott those countries"...by this time things got real quiet on the patio...and people started getting involved in our discussion...it was great...people were saying that she's crazy and some said they support those countries descision. She then says that since we support France, Germany and Russia's descision to not donate money that we don't support our troops and that we should be ashamed of ourselves...after she said that just about eveyone there(@25 people)started booing and heckeling her so bad it wasn't funny. She ended up yelling at her husband, who sat there with nothing to say, to get up and go...we started clapping...!

Mean spirited...maybe...but I don't think that what those countries are doing is wrong..."W" gave them the finger and now all of sudden they are the bad guys because they don't want to get involved in something that they see as wrong...?

What do you think...?...am I off base with this...?

Are those countries wrong for not helping out with the reconstruction effort...?
Or...are they right on for doing so...any thoughts...?

2. I can't blame France, Germany and Russia ...
they didn't ask or want the mess that Dumbya created in Iraq ... and besides, they want some say in how the reconstruction effort's $$$ are going to be spent and right now they're just lining Halliburton's pockets

3. They hate them because they stood up to us....
No bully likes it when someone stands up to them.

And the US acted like a big bully where Iraq was concerned.

Also remind those people who hate Germany and France so much that if they like, you can write the French and German government and ask them to leave Afghanistan and see what they say.

5. They were right
Those three countries took it on themselves to try and keep this from happening. Said it was a bad idea, would create a huge mess and whoever got involved would be stuck there for years. Bush and his gang, along with the lap dog press, tore into them. Even went so far as to call into question France's and Germany's friendship with us.

And now, when things are exactly as they said it would be, they are being asked for help. Why should those countries who tried to keep this from happening send troops over there to die? Why should they send any of their money to something they tried desperately to keep from happening? The fact that anybody would criticize them now for not helping makes my head spin. It's beyond stupid.

Oh, and they aren't just being asked for troops and money, they are being asked for those things with no say whatsoever as to how both will be used. They aren't really being asked either, they are being told they are obligated to do this. That is a staggering new level of arrogance.

I sincerely hope Germany, France, and Russia keep saying "Fuck you, Mr. Bush" for as long as he is in power.

6. Just a thought
The naval powers versus the continental powers. When will the China chip fall? When will our "prosperity" go poof?

7. Good point.

Busch's arrogance only lasts as long as he's the "top banana". What if we should fall upon hard times? Watch the worm turn. And quick. They would not waste a minute polishing their manners, rolling out the red carpet, and kiss kiss kiss their behinds.

It's all a matter of perception. The European countries did the right thing. As a matter of fact, there was nothing else they could do. It was simply impossible for them to capitulate according to the US demands. The WH rigged it so as to make it impossible for them to cave to their demands. And yes, it was extortion.

8. Faith and authority
Edited on Sat Oct-25-03 10:05 PM by poskonig
Republicans expect everyone to bow down to Bush, since he is their authority and they have faith in them. More liberal-minded people (and nations) tend to think in terms of evidence and reason. The conservatives cannot understand why others do not share the blind faith that they do, and see France, liberals, et cetera, as disobedient heretics.

I know, it is stupid, but it isn't far from the truth.
