Jeb's 8 million $ website by Infinity, upkeep yearly 1.5 million.
Here it is, folks, 8.2 million, or something like that.
http://www.fcatexplorer.com/

The true saga is now only found at Information Clearing House. Bless their hearts for this. I have it on my hard drive, but can't share the whole thing that way.
Here you go. This is what is going on here.

Or How To Ensure Your Daughter Gets A Job When She Leaves Rehab!

State weaves tangled Web over FCAT site contract.

SNIP...."In 1999, Infinity called on the education department, pitching a Web site to help parents and students cope with the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. Three months later, the department gave the university $8.2 million to get it done, and West Florida paid Infinity $7.5 million to do it. The only paperwork the auditor found was in the packet the university provided after the deal was done. "DOE also advised us that, to the best of its knowledge, 'no documentation exists,' " the auditor noted.

The money, the auditor also found, came from an appropriation for contracts, but DOE handled it as a grant. The state didn't seek other bids. It's not as though Infinity bought special equipment for the job; 80 percent of the grant money is for salaries. Tallahassee-based Infinity is holding open a job for Gov. Bush's daughter, Noelle, when she becomes available....."END SNIP

1. Isn't Infinity owned or managed by one of the Bush& brothers?
Seems like I read in the Sun-Senteniel when I was still living in Florida that one of the brothers was involved and stood to make a ton of money.

5. Link to Infinity website.....can't tell who is behind it?
http://www.infinity-software.com/home.asp

I followed every link, but can't tell. Can someone help me figure the owners? I am very curious. Usually there is something on the company website about who is in control, or board of directors, etc.

7. I will keep looking, I really want to know.
Post if you find something.
I am very suspicious now after reading this over again. No doggone website paid for with state money is worth even close to 8 million.
I tried to find something last year, as I had also heard a Bush brother was involved.

Ignite is Neil's site, but maybe this is connected someway.

10. Other info, Company profile and state contract
February 6, 2002

- snip -

ISD, an IT consulting services and software development firm, continues to exhibit impressive growth. The company achieved sales of $7.6 million in 2000, and grossed over $9 million in 2001. The company currently has 100 employees.

Since 1994, most of ISD’s sales have been from customized software development and consulting services for state government clients. Tom Lynch, ISD’s owner and CEO, has stated that the company will continue to grow its state agency business in 2002, but will also expand into the federal marketplace. “There’s an abundance of IT work to be done at the federal level, and we feel we have the collective skill sets to seize those opportunities.” Lynch, an army veteran, started the company in 1994 with $10,000 of his own money.

9. Tom Lynch is Infinity president.
http://www.truthout.org/docs_01/01.30A.Noelle.Bush.htm
"Tom Lynch, president of Infinity Software, said Noelle Bush had been hired
as an administrative assistant. As for her future with the company, he said:
"I don't know what the facts are yet. I want to hear from her." "

http://www.sptimes.com/2002/11/13/State/McKay_directs_state_j.shtml
McKay gave contract to IBM, Senator King overturned it and gave it to
Infinity.

His name is familiar in another context, but I can not seem to find much about what. Just can't remember where I have read it before.

The names Thomas Diefenbach and Paul Larsen also popped up somewhere along the way.

8 million dollars for a website with an fcat-like practice program?

Check this out. Sorry about the only method to get there (guess they don't want people bookmarking an inside page)
http://www.fcatexplorer.com/home.asp
click on- Parent and Family Guide
click on- FCAT Explorer Programs
click on- Reading Timeline: 10th Grade Benchmarks
click on- A skills review to help your child review the skills featured in the program and tested on the FCAT

When the 10th GRADE READING > SKILLS REVIEW window pops up
click on- valid/reliable information Example

16. OMG Soup!
The only validity of this 'reliable' source is that it is the official version of the White House, which is subject to change when the previous spin, I mean previous official version no long applies due to their rewriting history.

I am very relieved my son is no longer a part of the Florida school system.

18. What I get in following your links is that I have to download the program.
Then restart the computer, etc. I already have all the stuff I need for viewing flash movies, anything at all. I always hesitate to download stuff like that.

Could you explain more what you mean by the valid reliable thing. Is it before you have to download the Macromedia deal?

20. This is what it says, Mad:
If an article includes statistics from an official government document that was based on sound reserach, it is reasonable to think the statistics have a high validity. We can have confidence in the reliability of those statistics if they have been accurate over time.

The press secretary for the President of the United States is a valid source of information because the press secretary has official permission to represent the President. We can count on the press secretary as a reliable source if the press secretary's reports are accurate time and time again.

just followed the links through to the View the Skills Review Index

Oh, I see. The 'View the Skills Review Index' is below the download link. No, I don't think you have to download anything to view it.

If you can't get it, I'll post it here. Was concerned about copyright.

Seriously, don't you think that is outlandish? What would be a fair price to charge. I think a million and a half a year just for maintenance is extreme.
