Blacks show interest in Dean

Democratic candidate Howard Dean's medical degree and opposition to the war in Iraq are attracting black politicians to his presidential campaign, even as analysts say he lacks the political network to win the black vote.
    
Among would-be black voters, Mr. Dean, a licensed internist, has an advantage over his Democratic rivals on health care issues, said David Bositis, chief researcher for the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, a think tank specializing in issues of interest to blacks.
    
Health care has ranked high for several years in the center's annual national poll of issues important to blacks, Mr. Bositis said.

"(The numbers have) been going up as health care issues have become bigger for the African-American community, with AIDS, diabetes, hypertension on the rise for the past four years," he said, adding that Mr. Dean's medical background made him a more credible candidate on health care issues among blacks.

Of even greater interest to black voters is the former Vermont governor's staunch opposition to the Iraq war, said Rep. Major R. Owens, New York Democrat, who has endorsed Mr. Dean.

Damn, and I had just contributed money to Dean's campaign. Well it's right there in the Washington Times, that analysts say it.

And it's clear from the use of the plural that it wasn't just ONE analyst either. TWO OR MORE analysts have analyzed Dean's campaign and rendered this analysis. And although they are unnamed, the analysts could be very experienced and knowledgable on political matters. Or perhaps Analyst #1 is extremely knowledgable and #2 one is "on his way up", being mentored by #1 but unfortunately losing some critical independence in his point of view as a result.

So FUCKING IGNORING this insight could actually be foolish, in some totally and pathetically subservient parallel universe (and DJcairo could be right after all).

Mmmm....Washington Times(moonie paper) helping Dean along with Black voters???? The polls don't show it. I'm black, and not about to support a candidate that will lose in the General Election.

I like Dean...but not enough to serve him up to Bush for 4 more years of Bushco.

I think that if the GOP is pushing Dean to win the primary it shows how dumb they are.

19. A major reason Dean did not "show well" in the

African American community is due to the digital divide. But Dean supporters are constantly working on minority outreach ideas at meetups and via the get local tools. Good to see it is finally kicking in, and Black folks are finally taking a look at our man, Howie.
