The fault, dear DUers, is not in the Mediawhores, but in our Dems...
Edited on Sun Oct-26-03 01:31 PM by TruthIsAll
I am now convinced, after watching Wolf on CNN, that we can no longer blame the media for not getting our message out. The usual suspects are brought on the Sunday talk shows with every opportunity to speak truth to power. Wolf asks them the leading questions, but they just wimp their way out of showing anger at all that BushCo has wrought.

How ironic, that they effectively ignore Wilson and the three retired CIA patriots appearing before the Dem committee (Friday, on C-Span) to tell the truth about the Bush lies and cover-ups.

Meanwhile, Robert Byrd and Ted Kennedy, like the late Wellstone, cry out for justice on the floor of the Senate. Yet the rest of the bunch, except for Rockefeller, Levin and a few others, are ready to give Bush whatever he needs.

Biden, Lieberman, McCain et al have brought shame on the Senate and themselves. We will remember this sorry interval, and we will not give you the slack which you continue to give Bush.

Go ahead, Dem wimps, go along with the Repukes by disregarding Wilson and the CIA after they come to you with all you the evidence you need to sink Bush.

You are blowing your final chance to crack this all open.

1. We should get people like

Feingold on these News Programs. People like Byrd, Kennedy, the true dems. These guys are so flaky, I get sick and tired when I listen to them.

No wonder there is a push for a 3rd party.

3. Luger has stuck his neck out
maybe the dems can talk him into switching .....he isn't going to get any support from the WH. Two weeks in a row he has critized Bush.

4. Yes, but he has an opportunity here to get to the head of the class...

as the only Repuke non-chickenhawk and war hero, to salvage his reputation. Besides, he should be as motivated as anyone to get Bush, especially after that South Carolina 2000 primary disaster in which he and his wife were slandered unmercifully by Bush.

What is it with people like him and Judy Woodruff, who saw her husband cursed at in a public restaurant by Bush, to conveniently forget these atrocities?

5. Do we know if the people that we want are even asked to participate?
Are they asked and do they refuse? I don't know anymore.
I wonder if the schedulers are told who can be on and who
cannot. Senator Byrd was on Larry King during the Clinton impeachment debacle but at that time he wasn't really going against the corporate grain. Does anyone know the answer to that question?
Until we figure out for sure who is "allowed" on the air I wouldn't blame the Democrats.

6. Wilson has a website now.

I understand how you feel, but, disagree. The Dems have to be careful to walk a fine line on this one, to make sure it doesn't get branded "just politics" by the media. The CIA and FBI agents concerned must be at the forefront of these charges and the Dems must back them up discreetly and where they can.

YES...I do blame the mediawhores for absolving the Bush White House and their eagerness to smear Dems unfairly.

8. Rubbish
>>The Dems have to be careful to walk a fine line on this one, to make sure it doesn't get branded "just politics" by the media.

They need to get out front of the issue like any sophomore communications student would do. They simply preface their comments by saying, "And before you brand this as just politics as usual, remember that we're talking here about the security of the United States and the ability of our intelligence community to fight the war on terrorism -- issues that stand above mere politics." And then they flame the WH traitors.

It's really that simple and these miserable, craven piles of excrement damn well know it. They're dodging the issue, giving repukes cover and betraying their political base. Other than that, they're doing ever so swimmingly.

9. Rubbish, yourself. Who do you think is behind the scenes
Edited on Sun Oct-26-03 02:49 PM by blm
with their allies in the intel community keeping this in the forefront? The Democrats are doing it through the PROPER channels, in Senate committee, and legal channels. and using and strengthening their ties within the intel community.

Get real. None of this happened in a vacuum. Wilson IS working on Kerry's team. You think he wasn't talking to Kerry back when with he decided to write his op ed that nailed Bush?

10. I'm not talking about what's happening behind the scenes...
I'm talking about how Dems can avoid the "just politics" trap on those rare occasions when somebody on national TV pretends to actually give a damn about their opinions.

Using proper channels is fine for political junkies, but we just had another Sunday on which the usual suspects licked Bush's cowboy boots again, apparently for fear of being labeled "partisan." Well fuck that; they need to get out front of these kinds of labels and co-opt them for their own use. Works for the repukes, and I see nothing wrong with imitating their tactics if they work.

Finally, I somehow can't quite get it that suddenly the US intel community is in league with Dems to get Bush. I suppose the old "enemy of my enemy is my friend" construct is possible, but these are the same people who staged revolutions to oust Arbenz, Lumumba, Allende and Mossadeq (sp), proposed poisoning Castro's cigars or making his beard fall out, ran operation Phoenix in Vietnam (which was straight political assassinations), among other exceptionally vile activities. This is one hell of a bunch of friends and I wouldn't want to owe them any favors when the dust settles.

7. the problem is you
instead of writing a positive post about Rockefeller, you chose to write a negative one about whoever you're talking about.

Rockefeller basically backed up Ted Kennedy's rhetoric, and Hagel didn't seem to disagree too much.
