He looks like some guy I saw bent over a slot machine guzzling scotch in Vegas. He looks real sleazy to me. I think he's the epitome of an intellectually bankrupt Demo establishment suck-up. (I guess he's better than Lieberman, however.)

that he's fused "shoulder-to-shoulder" with Bush. He's WAY too centerist for me. In another day and age, his desire to find bipartisan solutions would be laudable, but now it makes him look ridiculous. The Republicans count on senators like Biden to act bipartisan while they back-stab the Democrats and pursue a hard-right agenda with abandon.

Caveat: I know lots of bipartisan agreement still happens on the Hill, lots of day-to-day operation of the government requires Congress to work together. I'm referring to the headline-making bills before the Congress.

3. After watching his performances

on the Senate Judiciary Committee, his participation in the virtual rape of Anita Hill, and his fondness for any nearby camera, I think he should take his hair plugs and shove off the nearest pier, but the damned guy holds a Democratic Senate seat.

Biden's the guy who made an agreement with the Bush I White House not to allow any evidence (like dozens of video rental receipts) of Clarence Thomas' fascination with pornography as a student at Yale Law School.

4. Well, being from Delaware...

I happen to think Joe is a decent guy. I am disappointed that he opposed the late term abortion ban and I am disappointed that he hasn't come out totally against the war in Iraq (although he has been critical of the administration), but at the same time he did try to amend the request for the $87 billion so that it came from the top 1% tax cuts being delayed and he has always been solid against drilling ANWR.

I think that he is acting from his solidly held beliefs and convictions. I happen to disagree with some of those, but I have to admire him for his integrity.

There's more unadulterated bullshit on this thread than I have seen in a long time.

Joe Biden is one of the true gentlemen in American politics. Sure, he doesn't meet the Official DU Ideological Purity Test, but neither do 99.7% of Democratic voters.

For the record, Joe Biden:

*Lost his wife and daughter in a horrific car wreck the week before Christmas in 1972, leaving him a single father a few weeks after his 30th birthday.

*Never purchased a home in Washington, choosing insetead to commute from Delaware in order to spend more time with his family.

*Has always treated his staff (campaign and senate) with the utmost degree of respect and loyalty.

*Lead the fight against the Reagan Administration's efforts to scuttle crucial civil rights legislation.

*Played the key role in keeping Robert Bork off of the Supreme Court.

*Sheparded President Clinton's anti-crime legislation through the Senate.

*Forcefully spoke out against the Reagan and Bush I administration's noxious foreign policy misadventures in Central America and South Africa.

But, he doesn't drink the hardline isolationist Kool Aid, so he must somehow be an inferior human being...

I admit I am a bit more Liberal than Biden, but I have always liked him and found him to do what he truly believes is right.His speeches on the Senate can be amzing. One thing that really impressed me was when he was on the Hardball college tour at the Univ. of Delaware, it was the same week that the Michigan Affirmative Action case had been argued in front of the court. Matthews asked the students whetehr or not they favored affirmatie action and the great majority of the students indicated they were oppsoed, and Biden didn;t shrink at all. He stood up to the kids and challenged them to really think about it and if they really didn;t think it was mneccesary, and then gave a very perusaive gutsy argument. I remeber after seeing that, I wanted him to run for President. Say what u will about him, but he is a good man who isn;t ashamed of what he thinks.
