I'm a Clark B'ar but it bothers me too. He has to get some help with that one. There is such a thing as appearing too focused.

The kid in A.I. (Harry Osmond?) did that deliberately. He never blinked into the camera throughout the entire movie. OF course, after a while most of the audience was asleep so only a few of us SF fanatics really noticed.

As to the debate, Wes kicked ass. And I liked the way nobody but nobody paid any attention to those talking-head moderators. THey could shine all their lights, and ring their bells all night long. The folks on stage weren't about to comply. And how could they, with the actually idiotic questions the panel was asking.

When will you balance the budget? It was like Barbara Walters asking what kind of tree you'd be, if you were a tree. And when she asked for more specifics, he just ignored her again. Good stuff.

Should we eliminate Dean because he's ahead in the polls? If we eliminated people because of their strengths, where would we be? Really, sometimes you Dean supporters go too far in support of your candidate and turn off those of us who might otherwise support him!

...I guess you misunderstood what I said. I was saying that in the earlier poll, Lieberman was eliminated under the assumption that he'd be most people's first choice for "clear loser". I was saying Sharpton would be eliminated as a choice in the voting for "clear winner" or "best zingers" because he rules in those areas. Or in other words, I was saying it wasn't right to eliminate anyone still a candidate, either due to too low or too high a standing. But whatever...man, if I call you later, can you jump my ass some more for nothing inparticular?

The closing statement is the most important section. The candidate sums up who he is, what he represents and thinks, and why he should get the nod. Only Clark mentioned national security. All the other closing statements were completely about social/fiscial problems. In 04 the public will not have forgotten about 9-11, and national security will be a very major issue, if not the dominate issue.

At least in the sense that the voting public will NEVER, not a CHANCE IN HELL, vote in any candidate who can be portrayed as

soft on defense.

Will NOT HAPPEN. This, Democrats had better wake up to if we want to win back the White House.



In my opinion, Clark and Kerry are our only viable candidates with a hope of winning the GE.

That's the one I care about. I want to win this time. This country and the world cannot tolerate another 4 years of Bush.

14. I voted for Clark

for best closing statement. I think Sharpton won the overall debate, hands down, with Clark, Kerry, and Edwards tied for second place, and Kucinich and Braun tied for third. Dean and Gephardt were tied for fourth, IMO, and poor ol' Joe brought up the rear.
