I like the fact that Dean seems pissed off, I AM TOO!
We had a caller on TGJS who was bitchin' about his "I may have to smack someone" posture and frankly I had to admit that I'm apofreakinplectic too.

So what's so bad about aggressiveness in the face of creepin BFEE Fascism anyway?

Nothing.

Same goes for DK, and Sharpton, too. I like that we have some rightious indignation on our side.

Fact is "Nice" isn't going to cut it against Neo-Fuedalists, bent on World Domination, unless Jesus is running and last I heard he isn't.

1. If Bush doesn't piss you off, who can?
Worst president in American history. I liked in the debate tonight when candidates stressed that we are at an "historic crossroads." We sure as hell are. Four more years of this crowd will permanently dismantle American rights, opportunities, reputation and ideals.

2. I went to the rally before the debate here in Detroit, and there
are a lot of other people who like it that he is pissed off as well. It was a pretty good turnout for a cold night on the waterfront.

3. Anger is taught as a bad thing in speech class
But I disagree, especially when people are as pissed off as they are, as I am. I like seeing Dean be as pissed as he was, but I didn't like it that he dodged Kucinich's question on his ads. He sounded a lot like the rest of the field in his ability to speak but say nothing when directly confronted with it.

Me, I would have been angry enough to basically ditch the forum rules and demand an answer that made sense (meaning "my opponents" doesn't mean "only those opponents who disagreed with me"). Anywya, D.K. screwed up tonight, but if it had been Kerry that moderator would have been polite. Oh well, it's just another case of Kucinich against the system (corporate media + corporate govt).

6. Welcome to DU, MrSoundAndVision
I like Kucinich as well, but I think that his numbers are too low. Dean has 8 opponents, but only 4 that are within striking distance. He's really talking about them.

4. Anger Is Corrosive & Divisive
It is distinguished with righteous indignation.

Dean's anger does not bring Light into the equation... it simply generates heat.

22. Those Who Allow Their Emotions To Dictate Their Behavior
Are ultimately ineffective.

Emotions are a motive force but they are incapable of formulating a winning strategy or evaluating options.

Politics in essence is making hard choices UNEMOTIONALLY and then harnassing emotion to get desired results.

One of the most blinding emotions is anger... it alienates us from one another.

The only way to win the Presidential Election is to get more votes and that means energizing people POSITIVELY.

I have enough anger in my life...

I love the fact that Dean was the FIRST to stand up to these pink tu-tu Dems.

Keep it coming, Dean, I am with you all the way!

14. General Election will be about solutions, not anger
Dean's anger is working for him in the primary -- but it won't work in the general election. People who voted for bush in 2000 are uneasy, concerned - they will listen to the democratic candidate if that person offers an alternative path. They will not respond to anger.

I am darn angry - I just know that there are people out there who won't respond to anger. This is a problem for Dean.

36. I agree
I was not too impressed the first few times I've seen Dr. Dean on regular TV (Larry King, for one)... but, I've read a bit more lately and have found myself pretty impressed. He just has to be careful that he doesn't get himself painted as some detached Northeastern liberal, as he seems more of Clintonesque when it comes to finances/budgets (meaning, he balances them, unlike Bush & Reagan)

8. I agree, being pissed is appropriate.
Considering the depth of damage being done
by the usurper anything less is unrealistic.

I also think Dean may draw better with men because
righteous anger is seen as a sign of strength and
of willingness to give em' hell.

Maybe that's why I'm not so impressed with anger. Polite doesn't always make right, but anger isn't usually an effective method of solving problems.

18. Call it outrage, then
You're right about anger, but a sense of moral outrage (that includes anger) has served reformers well through the years. I am both angry and outraged about this administration. Now, to effectively channel it is the challenge.

29. His anger is unbearable to me
If Dean wins the nomination, I will vote him, but it will be difficult. I feel as if I would be trading one bully for another. His anger makes me very uncomfortable. I simply cannot listen to him speak. As an informed voter I do read about all the candidates, but I won't listen to him.

32. Matter of opinion
I easily could have expressed my true opinion of Dean's speaking style, but it would have been considered flaming, so I refrained.

I will say that just like you feel Kerry is lying to you, I feel that Dean is lying to me.

34. If you are not angry, something is wrong.
Dean has a hugh following precisely because he tapped into and addressed the growing anger and frustration with elitist insiders in the Senate who continually allowed the present state of affairs to occur.

37. I'm fine
I have moments when I'm upset with the Bush* administration, but I think outright anger is the least productive way of dealing with their failures.

When I see Dean getting yelling or muttering under his breath at the debates, it reminds me of Bush* who is always on the verge of a temper tantrum when confronted. I may somewhat prefer Dean's platform, but I find his personality too volatile to be a good President.
