Poll question: New Englanders ONLY: Presidential preference poll
Edited on Mon Oct-27-03 12:03 AM by Loyal
Please only vote in this poll if you are registered to vote in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, or Massachusetts. I would like to break down the candidate support regionally. Please respond below.

1. Connecticut for Clark here
And here I am, living in Lieberman's home town. Where I live, there's a signed photo of Holy Joe in every diner!

3. Yeah
I'm tired so I put in State names for poll options. I think Willy selected Connecticut so chose Lieberman by accident, because the poll lined up that way. My bad!

Lieberman is kicking ass in Connecticut statewide polls though. :( He'll carry that primary easily. I was hoping Kerry could, but home state advantage is tough.

6. Lieberman is much beloved here in CT
here in CT, unfortunately. If it were a two-man Dem lineup, Lieberman might lose, but given the number of candidates, Lieberman can't lose.

Actually, that makes sense. As a Senator he's really pretty good. Despite his Iraq views, he's more awful in style than in substance. he does not turn off GOPers here, who tend to be Rockefeller Republicans, and Dems think he's an OK Senator.

Stay in the Senate, Joe. That's your place. You can do good there: you're not meant to be President.

7. I don't hate Joe
Edited on Mon Oct-27-03 12:16 AM by Loyal
He is more socially liberal than Gephardt, for example, but he does have some corporatist policies. I don't begrudge him for those, because CT is an insurance-heavy state. Those guys have a lot of money, and Lieberman is nowhere near as bad as Frist or somebody like that. Sure, he does tend to preach a lot about moral values, etc., but at least he's a Democrat. He did vote for the war, and he does support Israel wholeheartedly, but so do other candidates. If you look at his record he is a slightly left-of-center Democrat. I wouldn't really have a problem voting for him in the GE, but I am voting for Kerry in the New York primary.

8. He was a great attorney general
He Took on the insurance companies when almosyt no one else in the state would. I almost wonder if that it is the best thing to do with him. Make him attorney general, he might be pretty good at it. The thoguhts of a fellow nutmegger.

11. IF we can do it without turning over his seat.
This was a concern in 2K when the recount battle was going on. Lieberman would be VP, but the Senate would stay in GOP hands because his replacement would be Republican.

Maybe it won't matter this time.

12. I am leaning toward
Clark because I think he can win in the South. I would like to see a Clark/Dean ticket, maybe, because I also like Dean. I like Kerry too and would be happy with him, but would be more worried about him winning the dreadful popularity contest our elections have become. If only substance actually mattered. Will support whoever it is. Live in Maine.
