I listen to the BBC, too!
But I can't watch C-span. I don't have cable, and they run C-SPAN when I'm not home to see it. At night, they switch that channel over to "Bravo", which is ok, but not when I'm wanting to see a replay of Bob Byrd rippin' Chimp-O's ass.

Logical, yes? No C-SPAN for people who work day jobs....

and she listed about 3 or 4 books by liberals about politics. This was a few months ago and I forget exactly which ones they were, but they were all Buzzflash premium books at the time and I wondered if maybe she read some of the same web pages we do. She reads the same books.

I have read interviews with her before and she seems like a really intelligent, down-to-earth person.

It is one thing to say that an individual was, or is, in a care facility, (unless specifically requested by the individual or their authorized representative not to). It is something totally different if you describe or discuss the treatment that was given, a diagnosis, a prognosis. Just saying that someone is in a facility is not, necessarily a breech of confidence or patient confidentiality.

The obvious breech would be if that individual specifically requested that no name be given. One other thing, it was not this individuals mother that put this info on the board, it was second hand information, and that raises the possibility of 'suspect information or dissemination'. If this was common knowledge, before or after the event, regardless of who spoke of it, then there is no breech of confidentiality, (except as specifics as mentioned above, without the express permisssion of the individual or their representative if authorized and the pertinant individual is/was unable to speak for themselves).

As an aside....I spent many a year in the medical field, and this has been contentious at best. Every state has a different approach to this dilema; I am of the opinion, that patient confidentiality should be kept at all levels. If you remain tight lipped, there will never be a problem.

the terrible injuries. Some soldiers with 1 arm, 2 arms, sometimes 2 arms and a leg gone. Two soldiers lost legs in the same humvee bombing. The humvees are to soft. They cannot stop the terrible bomb penetrations. If Americans could visit the hospitals and see first place the injuries I think the war would be over. But you know if it is someone elses son or daughter it does'nt seem so bad.

26. Cher Has Been One Of Us Since Day One

She was outspoken about the plight of the Native Americans (listen to "Half Breed") and has supported a wide variety of liberal causes. She was extemely critical of Sonny when he was in Congress and is one of those "Hollywood types" who have never waivered on their personal convictions.

It was great to hear her. The other day someone mentioned doing a large "Farm-Aid" type DU show featuring the growing roster of performers and great speakers who can bring our messages to the masses. I'd suggest doing it during the GOOP Whorefest in New York. The media would quickly glam to a free one hour Bruce Springsteen concert and the Red Carpet would be wall-to-wall...talk about taking oxygen out of the Rove party.

years ago; and the question was: "How do you feel about Sonny being in Congress"?

Her answer: "It doesn't surprise me in the least that he's in Congress, what surprises me is that he would be a A REPUBLICAN!" (BTW, the audience thaought that was pretty damn funny too).

I never really cared for Cher that much over the years, and her Vegas shows are, to me at least, a little 'gaudy'; but over the past couple of years, I think her voice and her choice of songs have actually improved dramatically. I have become an admirer, to say the least.

I've always felt Cher has had a tremendous voice and one of the best female "blue-eyed soul singers" of the past 40 years. And she did it starting from zero. As she's grown older, and I, I've grown to appreciate her music more...especially her earlier material.

I never got into the "visual" Cher...going back to the kitchie "Sonny & Cher" show and that "lovely" seen with Chasity every week. But one does what one does to make a splash in the surreal world of pop culture, and Cher's managed to do so all these years.

At one time I heard she was very upset when Chasity came out, but that she quickly accepted and then embraced her daughter's lifestyle while Sonny remained estrange.

She was, as ever, fabulous, great, wonderful, friendly, happy, fabulous, down-to-earth, fab...oh, I said that one.

It is so great that she called--will have to spread the word-- she can run against the Gropeinator any day of the week.

After 40 years in the business she is a force of nature.

If you have the chance, pick up In the Absence of Angels by the late Elizabeth Glaser (the woman who spoke at the 1992 Democratic National Convention, who contracted AIDS through a blood transfusion and passed it to her two children through breast feeding. The wife of actor Paul Michael Glaser). There's a great story in the book about Cher, and she sounds totally cool and very liberal.

Why doesn't she act any more? I think she's a fantastic actress, and have loved her in everything I've seen her in. But she hasn't been in anything that I know of in several years.
