Watch Freepers support weapons for terrorists.............
I know, it seems odd. I thought them freepers would surely be in favor of legislation making it harder for terrorists to smuggle guns into the US. But no! Check this out!

Has anybody else heard about this? I couldn't find how close it is to passing. Hopefully the President won't sign this!

TERRORIST FIREARMS DETECTION ACT OF 2003 -- (Senate - October 24, 2003)

GPO's PDF --- Mr. LEVIN. Madam President, I express my support for the Terrorist Firearms Detection Act, a bill introduced earlier this week by Senator KENNEDY. Originally passed in 1988, and sometimes called the ``plastic gun'' law, this Federal law makes it illegal for any person to manufacture, import, ship, deliver, possess, transfer or receive any firearm that is not detectable by walk-through metal detectors or the type of x-ray machines commonly used at airports.

1. I think it's just a silly law
Such a weapon can't exist at the current tech level, so what's the point?

2. FWIW there are no plastic guns
There has been much heat about this issue and very little light.

The Terrorist label nonwithstanding, there are no plastic guns and there never have been. The whole "plastic" gun thing keeps turning what could be reasonable piece of legislation into a red herring for our opponents to demonize and ridicule us for spending time banning something that doesn't exist and never did.

What concerns me, and at least a few other Dem's, is that we seem to be continuing to take all of our party POV's on the 2nd amendment and all other gun related issues from the VPC which is run by two big time Repubs.

I think the DLC (?) just published a paper with it's POV on dealing with gun control related issues for the next election cycle.

Anyone who has seen that special Glock knows there are ceramic guns available.

Red Herring , anyone?

5. Yes but the bullets are still metal
It won't be long until that is fixed also. A complete non-metal gun is in the works today.

7. There is no such thing.
From the "Glock Faq":

Where can I get a porcelain or ceramic Glock, you know, the Glock 7?
There is no such thing as a porcelain or ceramic Glock. All Glocks are made from polymer and steel and always have been. This rumor got started (or maybe fueled) by a line from Bruce Willis in the movie 'Die Hard 2: Die Harder':

"That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me! You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. It doesn't show up on your airport X-ray machines, and it cost more than you make here in a month."
