FBI Round the clock to Protect Gay Bishop (death threats)
Edited on Mon Oct-27-03 02:04 PM by Mari333
Security concerns were one of the reasons Canon Robinson cancelled plans to attend a gay Christian conference in England over the weekend (story), the Independent reports. Robinson addressed the conference via satellite from the United States.

During his speech he acknowledged that he had received a large amount of hate mail. "I am receiving lots of angry hate mail but also love letters of incredible passion and depth," he said.

The threats are being taken seriously in America because of the growing militancy of religious extremists...

absolutely horrifying that this man must live in so much fear for his life.

1. Death threats from devout Christians?
So I suppose Jesus said to kill all the gay people?

I didn't read that part of the New Testament

3. could you post a synopsis? Many of us cubicle rats have our sites
filtered, so we cannot receive any gay content. Can you say "Exxonmobil"?

since apparently too many fundies are forgetting them lately, unless they are in constant view

6. He's doing the right thing.
Lesbian and gay Americans have got to be assertive, even at the risk of backlash at certain junctures. This is one of them. Progress is like that--there are setbacks. In this case though, I don't expect a split in the Anglican church. There's too much money and tradition involved.

7. This Is Why I No Longer Call Myself a Christian
I was sick and tired of being grouped in with assholes who do horrible things in Jesus's Name.
