I thought he was terrific on Hardball last week. I saw the replay yesterday. I am getting more and more impressed by him. I also thought he looked good in the debate yesterday.

I am trying to see as much as I can of him right now. He seems much more solid than either Dean or Clark to me. He seems to have a better grasp of the issues and the nuances and ramifications of each.

7. Alot Of People Dated Dean And Married Kerry

After months of building the IWR into the only issue that matters, people are beginning to wonder if Dean is a one-trick pony. The more people get exposed to the candidates, the more people see Kerry as a thoughtful, decent guy with one hell of a foreign policy. Naturally, there are some people who truly believe that the IWR is the only issue that matters, regardless of how Kerry would have handled it as President. The fact that Kerry had a great plan regarding Iraq at every stage and has a much more detailed, comprehensive, and forward-thinking plan for fighting terrorism doesn't matter much to them.

9. not to mention Dean's "Bushlite" line he uses when cornered

I love when he says it because you know you've got him. Kerry hammered him in the last the debate and I knew Dean would get desperate and explode with "Bushlite". Calling John Kerry -- a Northeastern liberal, probably the most liberal of the major candidates --- "Bushlite" is so ridiculous that any impartial observer would see this as simply a hissy fit on Dean's part.

i do not disparage those who oppose Kerry solely because of his IWR vote ... I have argued, battled really, on DU many times doing exactly that ...

and I have changed my views ...

what you stated was exactly right ... for many months, Kerry's IWR vote was all that mattered to me ... but his vote against the $87 billion earned him a second look ... it is clear to me that Kerry sees what is happening in Iraq today as a failed policy with "no direction home" ...

and I am not "anti-Dean" ... I am not a Dean-basher ... Dean is the "feel good" candidate because he "stands in opposition" to Bush ... he's a fighter ... I like that ... but I think Kerry is far more experienced in foreign policy ... and that's going to be a critical issue in the general election ...

the DU battle between these two candidates is not productive ... there needs to be more reasoned analysis and less cheerleading ...

my two cents: there's still lots of time ... use it wisely ... keep learning about the candidates ... i'm a proud undecided ... i think deciding this early is not a good idea ... don't short-circuit the process ...

14. That's my hope

Edwards isn't my first choice, but I really hope there is a place in any of the administrations for him. As a lawyer, I am continually impressed by the way he explains legal issues.

There's just something so compelling about him. And I don't mean his looks, that's not my thing. I think more in terms of soulmanship.

16. I second this notion

I have been saying for months that Edwards would make a great AG. I think Clark would be an unbeatable VP. I'd love to see him up against Cheney or Guiliani, if they decide to let Cheney croak. Clark has enough of a following that is similar to Dean, especially in the south that those votes could turn some of the southern states. Also, have you seen his numbers among military votes. Remember the difference the military votes made in Florida in 2000!

8. I'm very down on Clark

On paper he's very electable, but I expected him to be much more polished and self-assured. He always slumps when he speaks. One would think a general would stand up straight and project an auora of strength. He doesn't seem to have a thorough grasp of the issues and always speaks in platitudes. I like Clark and expected much more from him. I just don't think he's ready for prime time.

At the same time, I think Edwards has improved greatly. His latest debate performances and campaign appearances have been solid. His performance on Hardball was excellent. Tweety actually looked scared of him. Edwards approached Matthews the way anyone should - as though he were an opposing lawyer. Matthews is an enemy combatant and should be viewed that way. The first time Edwards went on Hardball his guard was down and Tweety mauled him. I'm very impressed with how Edwards has stepped up his game.

The thing that hurts Edwards is that he's a lightweight as far as resume goes. A one term senator with little foreign policy background. That's not going to cut it this time around. Kerry said that even Clinton admitted to him that he would never win in this political climate because of the heavy emphasis on foreign policy/national security in this post 9-11 era.

12. I Agree - Clark isn't Soup Yet

Perhaps he'll grow as a campaigner as things progress, but right now he's all image ... he's an image candidate ... he's the high-level, good looking, man of integrity, military guy ...

In last night's debate, he came across as strong and combative in response to challenging questions ... but, i just didn't get the feeling he had put many details into his positions ...

Time after time the other candidates started their answers with "I have a plan to fix ..." ... I kept feeling like Clark had not worked out the details yet ...

He's an attractive candidate but I think the dems should go with someone else this time around ...
