Alabamians have donated more money to Democrats than to Bush
While Alabamians have given more financial support to Democratic presidential hopefuls than to President Bush for the 2004 election, political analysts say that is a poor predictor of how/sAlabamians will vote next November.

According to the latest Federal Election Commission reports, voters in the state have donated about $700,000 to the nine Democratic candidates, slightly more than the $680,000 given to President Bush.

Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., leads the Democratic pack in Alabama, having raised about $500,000 in five visits to the state in the last year. Edwards’ take represents 36 percent of all donations made in Alabama for the presidential contest.

1. Interesting....
One thing I think many Dems don't 'get' is that even in the 'red state South', a LOT of the folks still vote for Dems at the state and local level. I think we have unintentionally alienated a substantial number of voters who used to and would again vote Democratic, if we would simply get 'out of their faces' on some 'third-rail issues' like gun-control, etc. . I have no reason at all to believe that Southerners are less concerned about the crappy economy, deteriorating public schools, the outrageous cost of health care and the like than are people living anywhere else.

My $.02...

2. I also bet that there were more people who gave to the Dems
out of that number than to the repukes...
Dems on average don't give as much per donation so that means a lot of people gave...I see this as a very good sign.
