the anger, the sadness, the sense of helplessness re. those who held the power, as the war went on and on. There was often peer support, however. I just asked my daughter if she realized that "Bridge Over Troubled Water" (which can sound sappy) came out at a low point during that time, and that, at least for me, these feelings, and having hope, were what it was about.
Bridge Over Troubled Water
When you’re weary, feeling small, When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all; I’m on your side. When times get rough And friends just can’t be found, Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down. Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down.
When you’re down and out, When you’re on the street, When evening falls so hard I will comfort you. I’ll take your part. When darkness comes And pain is all around, Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down. Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down.
Sail on silvergirl, Sail on by. Your time has come to shine. All your dreams are on their way. See how they shine If you need a friend I’m sailing right behind.
Like a bridge over troubled water I will ease your mind. Like a bridge over troubled water I will ease your mind.
