2. He works for Bush
Bush doesn't have an administration, he has a Christian Taliban--complete with a Ministry for the Elimination of Vice and Promotion of Virtue.

When he installs the muttawa after the 2004 election, it will be complete.

Boykin's not even the most extreme person there. That's Ashcroft.

3. You get fired when you displease your boss
And apparently what Boykin is doing and saying doesn't displease Lil George. Lil George needs that fundie vote next year, and this is a clear signal to that base that he shares their views and enthusiasms. They will vote for him because of that. The average Amurkin will cluck about Boykin, then forget all about it, and focus on whatever message the mighty Republican Wurlitzer wants them to focus on.

4. From this thread in Editorials:

Pat Buchanan says:

"...To a devout Christian, there is not only nothing wrong with the general's beliefs, everything is right about them. For just as Muslims do not accept Jesus as God, Christians do not accept Muhammad. Martyrs, whether to Christianity or Islam, do not die to testify that all faiths are equal..."
