And completely accepting what George tells them, correct?

5. Spin spin spin
Bush's spinmeisters must have been working overtime to come up with the "We're doing such a good job that the attacks are increasing" mantra.

The better we do the more they kill us.
They hate us for our freedoms.

Repeat ad nauseum.

I suspect he will just reinforce that BS.

Edited on Tue Oct-28-03 11:27 AM by JohnOneillsMemory
He obviously didn't read the book and isn't behind the words he's saying. He dreads the teacher's questions when he stops and folds his hands on his desk because he doesn't know the material and he knows it.
Perhaps the low-key blase tone is a tactic to mean 'bombs? whatever-no biggy-all's well...'
Gods help us....

13. The NPR broadcast is a full 10-15 sec ahead of the White House one!
I logged onto the NPR live broadcast, then a few seconds later logged onto the White House site to get the video, and the WH "live" version was just getting to the part I had heard on NPR 10-15 seconds earlier.

I think the WH is delaying the "official" broadcast so that they can edit if necessary. I wouldn't be surprised if most national news outlets just take their feed. Sure, reporters who are present there can point out if there are inconsistencies later, but the initial impression comes from the conference as it happens. Everything else will be 'analysis".

15. Is he now referring to ANY action against us over there as terrorism?!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but an attack against our troops, or even the Iraqi police stations, is properly defined as resistance. For good or bad, this is simply defense of their country. Admittedly, attacks against unarmed, unaggressive targets (such as the Red Cross) may be defined as terrorism, but to define legitimate resistance as terrorism is simply ridiculous.

20. So
he just said he won't hand over the 8/6 PDB to the 9/11 commission because it might prevent future presidents from getting "real good intelligence" in their PDBs, if there is a chance that they might be released to the public.

The thing is, he DID have "real good intelligence" in that PDB. He just didn't do anything about it.

Also, he used the non-word "suiciders" again, repeatedly.

And the condescending little twerp told Nora to "read my speech" and denied any responsibility for the "Mission Accomplished" banner! Come on, you guys stage manage EVERYTHING. You wouldn't have left that banner up there if you weren't okay with the message it sent.

"Iraq's a dangerous place". Yes, and it's probably become much moreso now than before the war... even with Saddam gone.

EDIT:
"It's dangerous because terrorists don't want us to be there." Yes... oh, and the Iraqi's, too.

34. Why do they even give The Chimp press conferences?
All Bush does when he pretends to answer questions is rearrange and reiterate the talking points he has been given by his handlers. The guy is like a tape recorder. Why does the inane press accept the same lousy nonanswer from him over and over and over?

Someone should make a Bush-speak applet in which a user enters question and the applet spits out a typical Bush response about terrorists hating freedom.

My take on this is:

He's found out (gasp!) the neocon Iraq oil-rape has backfired monstrously. Of course he blames Rummy who told him once to leave the details to him and the other strategic PNAC geniuses.

Baby Bush is now trying to assert any of his own authority he can muster as president -- for the first time.

Georgie is trying to run the show now!

He's dumb, confused, and disoriented.

He's hosed.

Edited on Tue Oct-28-03 12:03 PM by NicoleM
"The American people know that Saddam was a gathering danger." He won't address the issue of why there are no WMDs and whether that's a credibility problem.

"Intelligence clearly said Saddam was a threat." Hey dumbass, the only reason he could have been a threat was all the WMDs YOU SAID HE HAD.

Edit--now he's saying that the UN wouldn't have been a "credible" institution had we not invaded Iraq because credibility comes when what you say is going to happen, happens!

So that means our "focus group" is credible and his administration is not. We said this clusterphuck was going to happen, and it happened.
