Soldier from Waupun killed in Iraq
19-year-old is first Wisconsin woman to die in the conflict
By TODD RICHMOND
Associated Press
Last Updated: Oct. 28, 2003
Waupun - A teenager has become the first woman soldier from Wisconsin killed during the conflict in Iraq, family members said Tuesday.

Marvin Bosveld, father of U.S. Army Pfc. Rachel Bosveld, looks at pictures of his daughter in his Waupun home Tuesday. Pfc. Bosveld was killed during a mortar attack at a Baghdad police station.

Pfc. Rachel Bosveld, 19, was killed Sunday during a mortar attack at a Baghdad police station, said her father, Marvin Bosveld. She was a member of the 527th Military Police based in Giessen, Germany. She was the fifth soldier from Wisconsin to die in Iraq.

Bosveld said his family was notified of his daughter's death about 9:30 a.m. Monday.

My heart aches for this family, and for the families of ALL killed (whether in combat or not) while dubya is at war and I ache for all the soldiers Injured (and their families). What else can I/we say?

2. Exactly, but I wouldn't want to tell her family that.
I guess if shrub gets enough soldiers killed, families will "have to believe they died for something great" in order to accept it, and hence, support this invasion with every emotional fiber.

3. No, but a President who finds it so goddam compelling to get
us into this war, should call every parent and explain the reasons why to the parents and families of those killed....personally.

If this was law, maybe AWOL adventurist cowboys would be less inclined starting an immoral war.

5. I have never been
able to figure out what the gathering danger is. He repeated it today inspite of no wmd's being found. I keep picturing him and cheney in the back seat of a limo., both wearing smirks. Probably saying and laughing, these people will buy anything.

6. odd how that age can be woman/girl
Kobe Bryants accuser = 19 yr old girl
Moncia Lewinsky = 21 yr old girl

when it suits the press a female can be called a girl to appear younger, yet a woman when they want her to appear older!

Although, in this case, 19 is WAY TOO YOUNG to die for dubya and oil - doesn't matter if they are male or female!

8. Or the Bush "girls"
Was she in the service to get money for college? That was never a problem for them (although their lives haven't been problem-free).

She died a woman. Maybe they'll grow up, eventually.

9. 5th Soldier from my state to be killed by Bush*'s War.
What a senseless loss. FOR WHAT????

I feel for her family...

This is just so sad.

Think Bush* will be hugging her family? Of course not...
