Helicopters arrive! (San Diego fire)
The air is so thick with smoke that the sun looks like an orange full moon that's escaped in the middle of the day. Very eerie and surrealistic. It's so dark and grey that I can't see properly in the house without the lights on and it's only 1pm!

Just saw FOUR fire-fighting helicopters heading out toward Mission Trails Regional Park. Judging by the conditions outside, our fires continue to rage. At least we now have better resources at our disposal. It feels like what a war zone might be.

Please keep SoCa in your prayers....thousands of homes and lives still hang in the balance!

1. Keeping you in my thoughts
thank goodness the winds have died down.

I guess Julian is going up though now from reports. The firefighters haven't rested in days and are getting fatigued.

3. The fires can create their own weather
but at least the Santa Ana's aren't blowing through to exacerbate an already devastating situation.

A Fire Captain lives across the street and he's only had two four-hour rests since Saturday. I think it's pure adrenaline that's keeping these guys/gals going. The City needs to have a parade to honor these dedicated firefighters and applaud the tremendous job they're doing in the midst of hellish circumstances.

So sad about Julian, too!
