why does the daily show always have to rip on the dems!!!
i mean, it is already pegged as a liberal show, and all of its' writers and cast consider themselves democrats as well. they do rip on bush more than any other show on tv right now, but dammnit, lately they have been making fun of dems as much, if not more.."Race from the white house"- i bet the freepers get a big kick out of that one. (i still LOVE mess-o-potamia though! lol!) I still love the show, but wish they would lay off the dem candidates- the writers have more power to influence the political landscape than they think.

1. Well, they're maintaining
their neutrality. Chalk it up to credibility.

2. I don't care what you say about me . . .
As long as your talking about me.
And did it say anything that was wrong?

3. One would hope that part of what seperates us from the right
is the ability to laugh at ourselves.

4. Race from the whitehouse.
That reminds me of the saturday night live sketch of the democrats competing to see who would lose to Bush Sr. Maybe this is a good omen.

14. I have been thinking of that old sketch for such a long time
The candidates were arguing why the other candidates would make a good candidate to run against (and lose to) Bush Sr.

Makes me smile, especially now.

5. Playing to one side
Just makes it a biased show, and little better than Rush, O'Liely and "Asshat and Doormat" (aka Hannity and the token lib).

Not that I would mind this, but it gives them more credibility and a heck of a lot more material. If it was all one-sided, I think it would really cut into the audience.

At least they bash Rethugs!

6. I thought it was funny.
Sorry, but we have to be able to make fun of ourselves from time to time. That's one of the things that seperates us from them. And the fun being had with the Dem candidates wasn't as insulting as if NBC would have done it. I'm not sticking up for The Daily Show here, exactly - I would rather see a show making fun of Bush - but come on. If you can't laugh at yourself . . .

And Wanda Sykes (sp?) is brilliant.

9. yeah, it is always funny..
i still love the show, i am just a little disappointed to see what could be the only liberal show on tv with any kind of an audience (PBS doesn't count) spend so much time going after its' own. but don't get me wrong- i will still watch it everyday, but i want more bush humor! god knows you won't get it anywhere else on tv.

8. 'pegged as a liberal show'
It's only pegged as a liberal show by viewers. The writing staff isn't out there to attack Bush, they're there to make jokes about current events, and that's what they do. If the current event is Democrats making fools out of themselves, they make jokes.

And despite what you may have heard, Democrats do make asses of themselves sometimes.

12. Yes, thank you
Equal opportunity insulters. It just so happens that BushCo gives more opportunities than usual.

Let's not split everything into black/white, liberal/conservative, especially such a fine show as Jon's. You'll see, they'll tear Dean a new one when he's elected ;-)...and they have a few times already.

10. Made me laugh
I think it's a testament to our party that we can laugh at ourselves without the risk of seeming unpatriotic. The piece made Gephardt seem more likable than I've seen for awhile, and I would have been disappointed if Jon Stewart let "Kerry Gone Wild" slide. :)

11. Didn't he roast Bush for the press conference performance?
I haven't watched it yet, but I did see part of the press conference and * was giving Jon Stewart a lot of free material.

13. I'll second the others here.
it's not a "liberal" show, it's a political satire show. Shrub, Ah-nuld, and a bunch of other clowns have given them more than enough material, but JS has already said many times he is not at all partisan and will rag on anyone who deserves it.

He's Fair and Balanced for real, and that's just one more thing I love about the show.

15. John Edwards: He Owns a Pen...
...might be the funniest thing I've heard all year. LOL

Plus, c'mon, Coddry saying "Vermont in the hizzouse!" to Dean and Dean awkwardly having no idea how to deal with it was hilarious. Learn to laugh at yourself.

Later.

18. At Least Dean Tried to Play Along
Another candidate, who shall remain nameless, had to be told by his handler to go back and try to talk to Corddry after storming off in a huff the first time.
