FReeper raid in progress!
Edited on Wed Oct-29-03 12:00 PM by knight_of_the_star
Here is what I posted over there:

If everyone here is so "supportive of the troops", then why is it that posters here, on record, have called the brave GIs over in Iraq "crybabies"? Why is it that if people here are so in favor of the war they aren't enlisting to fight in the war and fight for their country and support their president by putting their money where their mouth is?

Any bets on how many minutes until they censor it?

ON EDIT:

Added the following as a reply to back up my post:

Just to mention it, this website has declared itself to be supportive of freedom of speech. If this post or the one this post is replying to is removed, then that will prove that this site does NOT do so.

The clock is ticking...

1. Try being a little more subtle in the future.
Instead of attacking the freepers for their actions, attack liberals for doing exactly what the freepers are doing. Then, when they freepers jump on the band wagon, subtlely point it back on them.

3. Wanna be banned?
You'll be banned and labeled "liberal/socialist/communist." Apparently freepers see no difference among these three groups.

22. I'm not sure, but I think it might have to do with...
Edited on Fri Oct-31-03 01:07 AM by LoZoccolo
...this book, first published in 1970:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0899666612/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/104-7928684-2932718?v=glance&n=507846

I saw it on a table somewhere at some open market in the atrium of the Thompson Center (building with a lot of government offices in Chicago), and the back says that it was kind of a new idea that socialism is no different than communism and it's all a big conspiracy etc etc. Kind of a John Birch Society belief. The book also advances that whole notion that fascism is a left-wing philosophy that you hear them bring up a lot too. Someone in a chat room tried to tell me they thought it was because it was called "national socialism".

:eyes:

Basically there's a lot of 2 + 2 = 5 in it.

An odd thing about this table of books is that his set-up was mostly Afrocentric books and this thing was on it; I couldn't figure out how a right-wing conspiracy book fit in with all those.

10. The Commie-Nazis, from "The Simpsons"
I think that they were in a movie starring Ranier Wolfcastle. Their symbol was a combination of a swastika and a sickle.

6. 5 minutes!
5 minutes and the thread now says this:

This thread has been pulled.

I guess they ignored what I said about if they pull the thread they are proving that they do NOT believe in the 1st Amendment.

I wonder if any FReepers were tainted by my words before it was purged from Freak Repukelic?

8. We don't allow
FREEPERS to post here on DU...are you saying that by not allowing them to post what they think, we don't believe in the First Amendment either?

9. We do allow freepers to post here. We just don't allow them
to disrupt. The problem is that freepers cannot post without disrupting, but then his post was intended to disrupt also.

14. We don't allow
avowed freepers to disagree or argue or state contrary points at all. If they do, we call it disruption.

19. So...
>>We don't allow avowed freepers to disagree or argue or state contrary points at all. If they do, we call it disruption. <<

How can someone state a contrary opinion - on any forum - not just here or free republic or salon or whatever, and initiate an intellectually honest discussion without it becoming a disruption? I used to LOVE impromptu debates in college (OK, I was usually skipping a class at the time... but it was still fun!), and really enjoyed the intellectual stretch it provided. In any forum, without that, you eventually end up with an amen chorus... yawn!

Thoughts? Thanks!

15. that's also wrong
There are plenty of Freepers who have honest, well-thought out opinions that are pro-Republican and pro-conservative...they are, in fact, NOT ALLOWED to post those sentiments here.

Are there any acknowledged, active freepers on DU that participate in threads? I'm so busy I don't get a chance to get on the forum every day, and I'm still learning names.

13. Same rules here
Doesn't Free Republic have similar rules for posting as DU does? Ask yourself this - if a poster from the Free Republic website were to post here, what would the results be?

16. If they posted something as blatently inflamatory as what
Knight_of_the_Air posted. They would get tombstoned. That is why subtitly is called for in a situation like this.

17. I disagree
Per your logic then, the word "FREE" needs to be removed from their URL and their namesake.

All private discussion boards are entitled to regulate the community for the sake of civil discourse. Some of us disagree in principle, but that's the game. After all, many of us are quite capable of breaking down their reasoning using standard deductive logic. I have tried to post several "moderate" and non-inflammatory viewpoints on their site, and been censored. I have seen quite a number of viewpoints expressed here - from pro-guns, pro-life, pro-religion, etc. Please try and post a gun-control, pro-choice, or agnostic or atheistic viewpoint over there, and see how long the thread lives.

The only things that are ALWAYS moderated here are ad hominiem attacks, a favorite Freeper tactic, and towing the BUSH line. Which quite frankly is done so often by the media, I don't think the Freepers need any help getting such propaganda out.

The so-called defenders of freedom and the constitution are living a lie. As are most conservatives.
