If Bush* ever starts telling the truth, we're hosed.
Can you imagine?

"Yes, the banner was all my advance team's idea, and I went along with it, because I listen to the PR people, that's what I pay them for. And it was a mistake -- I can see that now. Pretty awfully overstated things with the 'mission accomplished' banner. Bad move, and I apologize."

If the monkey-in-a-man-suit ever goes mea culpa on us, he'd rise like a balloon in the wind. This country loves a confessor. This country loves to forgive.

But that'd never happen, right? Rove et al are too arrogant, right?

4. nahh-- see Rush Limbaugh
No changing ways needed. Just "confessing" and looking contrite.

5. I hope that they are too stupid to do this, but
if they do, I think you're right. The "love Bush" crowd would eat it up and the press would ask for canonization.

7. oh, Robb -- people will be too distracted by the flocks of flying pigs ...
... to notice the Shrub's heartfelt disclosures!

But seriously -- if Bush ever does get to the stage where he experiences a true change of heart -- apologizing for lying about Iraq, and getting all those soldiers and civilians killed, and being rude to other countries, and giving away the country's money to his rich friends, and destroying the environment, and stealing the election, and falls in a sobbing heap saying how sorry he is for making fun of Karla Faye Tucker after signing her execution papers, and that he's going to resign to become an impoverished hermit ... I for one would give him a big hug, because he would have shown the first signs of becoming a decent leader.

I don't think this will ever happen, though. He may do a bit of strategic crying, and issue some backhanded statement to the effect that he's going to apologize even though it wasn't his fault since other people made him do it.

11. But, what if...
He says something like the following:

"In looking back at what has gone on over the past several months in Iraq, it is apparent I was premature in declaring combat operations to be over. To the families of the servicemen and women we have lost in the past 6 months, I apologize from the bottom of my heart. In their names, I vow to stay the course in Iraq and get the job done."

The public would eat it up...

8. They have a hard enough time...
just getting him to pronounce the words to where they are intelligible.

It would be impossible for them to get him to speak the truth... even if they wanted him to.

9. Dub? Tell the TRUTH?
ROBB--For once I agree with Dr. Phil's comment on that one--anyone you know who would live in ANY fear of that happening should GET REAL, and quick!:eyes:

Aside from his other moronic tendencies, one of the few things at which Dub has actually proven to be astute is being a sociopath; he really can "lie like a rug" very well. I guess where his "moron" status comes into play here is that, oftentimes, he just cannot keep his lies straight. The one about the "Mission Accomplished" banner during the "Top Gun Wannabe" moment is the one he was counting on to pull over on us with his classic smirk. BUT...claiming he never really said "mission accomplished" was the REAL bumbler--after all, we've got THAT moment on tape!:eyes:

I guess, given his lack of exposure to news without his staff (or FOX News, of course) first "filtering" it would explain his dismay at the question, let alone his shock at how fast, and hard, his potential opponents hit it out on him. When even some media whores have the "gall" to fire probing questions at the Boy Emperor, "Chip" Rove & Co. ought to realize that next year's going to be a LOT more "uphill" than they imagined.

:kick:

B-)
