Why is the House of Rep's discussing a Florida Marlins Resolution?
On CSPAN now.
Brought up by Ileana Ros-Lehtin <sp>, R-FL. The resolution is for congratulations and other reps from FL and other states are yammering about it too.
Dont our elected officials have better things to discuss with the country in economic shambles?

1. What else are they going to do?
The people's business?

Since we now have unelected cabals deciding our foreign policy and domestic/economic policies, the House/Senate are reduced to the role of rubber stampers and debaters of useless and meaningless bills.

2. Oh, well...better to debate that than...
Actually PASS things like energy bills exempting Halliburton from environmental regs; preventing states from enforcing their tough anti-predatory-lending laws, and outlawing abortion even in cases of the mother's life being in danger...x(

Compared to debating THOSE bills, I'll take a resolution congratulating those "Billfish" in Miami ANY day! :D

B-)

3. I want to vote to cut the pay of Congress!!!
Is this all they can do??? :wtf: They can vote themselves a pay raise, congradulate a sports team, give our tax dollars to bechtel, and take long vacations!!! They clearly are working only part-time and should only get paid for their part-time work! Also, no health insurance either since most part-time workers do not get health insurance!

4. And they gave themselves a raise??
Congressional raises should be a ballot issue for the voters every year.

5. I hate when they do
shit like that. They are wasting time that is better spent on issues that really matter to the people who pay them to be there.

6. I knew there was a reason I hated those evil bastards
the Marlins, that is, not the House: that kind of goes without saying :-)

Ros-Lehtinen vies with her neighbor Lincoln Diaz-Balart for the title of Most Viciously, Reflexively Anti-Castro Buffoon/Representative. What a crock. If the Forces of Slightly Less Evil had prevailed, do you honestly think that Jerry Nadler or Charlie Rangel would be up there pushing a "Yankees Resolution"?!
