Bush's campaign slogan should definitely be "Ooops too late!". They seem to have the same excuse for everything they do wrong. Let's see shall we?


Hey Gore actually won the election...
OOPS too late! Supreme court put Shrub in power!

Let's spend the budget surplus on education and healthcare...
OOPS too late! I spent it all on military!

Let's not privatize social security the stock market is not a...
OOPS too late! There goes 9-11!

Let's not lower taxes to save us from debt after 9-11...
OOPS too late! Taxes are gone, oh well!

Let's not drill for oil off the coast of Florida and in Alaska...
OOPS too late! Haliburton already at it!

Let's wait for the inspectors to finish in Iraq before we...
OOPS too late! We already invaded!

Hey there are was no threat coming from Iraq!
OOPS too late! We're already there!

Hey they gave out no bid contracts to Haliburton and Bechtel!
OOPS too late! Can't do anything now!

Hey the Bin Ladens were flown out of the country on 9-11!!
OOPS too late! They're gone now!

Hey Iraq and Afghanistan had little or nothing to do with 9-11! It was Saudi Arabia and Pakistan!!!
OOPS too late! Our troops are stuck in a bog!

Hey the Taliban is coming back in Afghanistan!!!!
OOPS too late! No money left, the pipeline is finished!

Hey depleted uranium is still radioactive!!!!
OOPS too late! It's all over the battlefield!

Hey that guy in the pentagon who said the war would cost 150-200 billion dollars and was right!!!
OOPS too late! We fired him a long time ago!

That General Boykin guy is spreading hate and anti-muslim messages which are conduct unbecomming an officer and ruining the last bit of credibility we have!!!
OOPS too late! He was already appointed to the Dept of defense!

Hey that late term abortion ban will lead to the deaths of several women with complicated births!!!!
OOPS too late! It's already passed!

well, there was the Cheney "energy commission". they've been stonewalling on that for years, and pretty soon it'll be too late if it isn't already.

i suppose you could think of a similar "oops-too-late" way to characterize the non-indictment of Ken Lay.

the microsoft anti-trust litigation.

opening the Yucca Mtn waste repository.

protecting American jobs from being outsourced.

the "Texas miracle" that turned out to be a complete fabrication.

the administration's grudging admission that global warming is real.

the repubs' embrace of serial-sex-offender Arnie as their candidate, after impeaching Bill Clinton for far less.
