Cool graph: Generic Dem vs. Bush I (10/91) and Bush II (10/03)

As you can see, Generic Democrat trailed Bush I by 10 percent at this point in his administration, but trails Bush II by only 3 points.

Since Bush I went on to lose to a Dem, Chimpy's current standing gives us some reason for hope.

1. Right. And 43% is great at this point.
Lots of those won't change their minds. So, there is some hope. Problems, however: Once a particular candidate is selected, lots of people will find reasons not to like him/her, next summer Bush will report that the economy is improving, will squeeze every penny out of Iraq, buy all their corporations at rock-bottom prices, set up a puppet pro-US government, then pull out and declare victory before the election, the electoral college is still a problem (we might even get another loss with a majority of votes), the voting machines are rigged, repug governors in many states, including CA, will help rig the election, and the media will declare Bush the winner of the debates (lots of people decide how to vote based on who the media says wins the debates). I am sorry, but at this point it looks like chimpy will be re-selected. I don't know what can get us over all these hurdles.

3. If his numbers are still this high after leakgate, the lies about Iraq, etc
what's going to happen in the future that could possibly be worse?

4. You forgot to mention...
Edited on Thu Oct-30-03 11:21 AM by JaneQPublic
...that right before the election, Chimpy will suddenly capture Osama, Saddam, the Anthrax mailer, and Shondra Levy's killer. Then either Ronald Reagan or Barbara Bush will drop dead, and both Jenna and Barb Jr. will get married in a fairy-tale public wedding, probably to handsome young Iraq War soldiers. Am I forgetting anything?

Damn, you sure know how to step on a girl's buzz. :eyes:

edit: spelling

5. Ken Lay will be marched off in handcuffs, only to be
released on $20 bail 2 days after the election, and have charges dropped 2 days later.

Also, there will be a tragic event that causes martial law to be declared, and needs "strong leadership."
