they started with the campaign to portray Gore as unflatteringly as possbile more than a year before the selection in 2000.
they did this by using their Rove/Comstock led boiler room, reported upon at some length in Time or Newsweek, but not until AFTER the campaign.
the compliant media, of course, acted as stenographers for all the lies manufactured by the * campaign, and readily invented quite a few of their own (thanks to mainstreamers Lehrer, Matthews, Seelye, Connolly, Broder, etal--they know who they are).
point is, these bite-sized, easily internalized snippets were all the voting public needed to be persuaded that Gore had a serious problem telling the truth (forgetting all the other nasty stuff, like Alpha male, earth tones, wooden), contrasted with the straight-shooting, always-honest Bush (!!!!).
this simple, yet effective, marketing technique is essentially what got that creature enough votes to be put in a position for his string-pullers to steal the election.
and, unfortunately, things haven't changed for the better; indeed, they've probably gotten worse, with the advent of the trifecta two years ago. many people don't seem to want to be disabused of the reality that their "president" is nothing but a figurehead, who at the very least capitalized on a terrible disaster to rescue his fast sinking regime from a humiliating demise.
It's going to take similar marketing tactics from the loyal opposition to convince the public of the reality that underlies the sham.
what sound/visual bites can be employed to this end?
there's such a vast array of audio/video/written material generated by this buffoon, that one way to accomplish this goal would be to simply hoist the fool on his own petard, which is what the dems could have/should have done three years ago.
David Letterman, of all people, is doing the best job of this (followed by Jon Stewart, on occasion) EVERY night, with his Bush Clip of the Day, and Bush Joke that isn't a joke. why aren't dems following up on this in some coherent manner.
So......small, easily digestible bites, just like MacDonald's jingles.
why not something like, "Mission Accomplished?" hammered home at every opportunity?
this one serves two purposes.......reminds all of the fiasco in Iraq, as well as furthering the idea that this person lies about EVERYthing, ALL the time; items large and small
thoughts, memes, bites to contribute?
use his words against him, before it's too late
