C-span: wolfowitz gets HAMMERED by GWU students (video link)
Edited on Thu Oct-30-03 07:36 PM by amen1234
10/30/2003

wolfo gave a speech today and answered questions from students studying foreign policy, here in DC, at George Washington University

the speech covers about first 52 minutes, and is chilling (covers wolfo explaining how he's all for religious tolerance in OUR country, but in Iraq, he will change all the religious schools to his own liking...that we are in Iraq for 'the long hard slog' and he loves the way rummy wrote that...and how all wolfo's experience with Muslims have been really 'happy' and of course, the 'happy Iraqis' and the glorious policies of our wonderful saintly leader 'bush*'
it is a chilling speech....very, very frightening...lies and lying liars who tell them...wolfo...just back from being missiled out of his luxury hotel in Baghdad...

the best part, starting at about 52 minutes is the questions from the students...at 1 hour and about 3 minutes (1:03:00) the student stated: YOUR policies are deplorable...

--and at 1 hour and about 7 minutes (1:07:00)...student 'and especially when saddam was funded by OUR country, and even after killing the Kurds, the USA increased saddam's funding....

link on this page...top middle, it keeps changing to several different ones, look for wolfowitz....then hit link at the word WATCH, and it should pop up and play in RealOne player...about 1 hour and 17 minutes....student questions start at about 52 minutes, so you can slide directly to that part (which is the GOOD part)...

5. wolfo didn't take too many questions, the chickenhawk question
was likely waiting in that long line at the microphone...wolfo seemed to split ASAP...

it's rude to rush out like that, especially at a University environment...if it had been going better, it is certain that wolfo would have stayed for at least 30 minutes for questions (he split after 20 minutes, making everyone sit in their seats and wait white he left...)...Clinton would have answered students questions for at least an hour, and shook hands and signed autographs afterwards..but wolfo is catching the drift world-wide and at home from his "deplorable policies'....if only our press corp would have the backbone to ask questions like that...these students could sure teach them something...

tough questions

then they would not have to fear losing access

Bush and his Crime Family would either have to answer or have no press conferences (which Bush doesn't now anyway, really, what was this, his tenth in almost 3 years? and do carefully controlled/scripted press conferences even count? What would Jefferson say? He'd cry.)

if I think too long about Bush restricting access to the press steam comes out of my ears - that goes against everything TRUE PATRIOTS ever said

6. What a lying sack of excrement Wolfowitz is
I just watched that video of Assholowitz speaking at GWU.

My God.

First of all he looks like crap - kinda like he was pimp slapped by Death as a teaser for what's to come. Obviously the near missile strike scared him worse than he first thought as he was pale days afterword.

Secondly, I salute those two brave students at GWU who threw his crap back in his face and denounced the sick policies of him and his bosses. They are a credit to the anti-war movement and a model for what alert citizens should be.

Lastly, the way he lamely tried to put words into the woman's mouth ("well I suppose you'd rather have Saddam Hussein back") revealed that he was not very comfortable with his own views. When people get defensive like that, it shows more than what they wish to be shown.

The way he reacted to the student who reminded him that that evil Saddam was supported by this very government was even more revealing. He had to stop and declare that they "both had to calm down". I've rarely seen a public official get this upset and irked by a question or statement from the floor. Paul Wolfowitz is a little nazi who does not suffer resistance to his warped world view gladly. One got the impression that deep down he wanted to have these folks jailed.

I cannot wait until we are free from this gang of creeps.

8. wolfo came close to calling that student a traitor, the one who
said he did not support the U.S. policies when the U.S. was paying for saddam, and paying for the weapons that killed the Kurds...

wolfo thought that anyone not agreeing 100% with American policies is anti-American...I felt that too...it was an ultimate nazi-germany response and one felt that wolfo could certainly have that student dragged out if he could have...

of course, rummy did have TWO women dragged out of the National Press Club here in DC recently...even though they paid admission to be there...rummy had his security guards drag the women out as a "security risk'...no charges could be filed because they were legally at the National Press Club and paid admission...

these GW students also had the right to be at a University auditorium, where they attend school...IMO, the dragging out by wolfo's security wouldn't have gone over well....these criminals can't appear anywhere in public...

17. I wouldn't read too much into that
George Mason University in Fairfax VA is my alma mater - I had friends at GWU in DC and I can tell you even back then it was a very conservative place. I am not surprised at all that he got applause for a stupid, argumentum ad absurdem style comment like that. You also cannot rule out that he possibly had the place buffered with his shills in the audience.

I'm of the opposite opinion - that I was pleasantly surprised that he got any resistance at all in such a place.

Glass empty vs. glass full? Perhaps. But seeing the look on Assholowitz's face as he got his ass handed to him TWICE in one sitting, was priceless.

Edited on Thu Oct-30-03 10:49 PM by amen1234

conservative institution of higher education...a heavily White student body, in the middle of a city majority Black....it's strange...

those students who stood up to wolfo really slammed him...and the 'old' days, wolfo probably would have had an easy and glorious trip to GW University school of foreign policy and been greeted as a nobel warrior or something...

but, IMO, these students sense that they are about to be drafted...every young student in the country must be beginning to smell the upcoming draft...for the first time, in Saturdays DC anti-war protests, I saw quite a few younger people...college students who certainly understand that the draft is coming up soon...and that is good that they finally got up...there were few students in the pre-war protests at all....NOW, more are STANDING UP...and I give them a lot of credit...those students showed more backbone than any of the professional reporters are showing...

in addition, this University is very close to where the DC March was, and some students may have been there, and been inspired by the entire uplifting event...it was very inspiring...the DC March may well motivate people to take a stand, give them strength to STAND UP, to know that they are not alone...that was a main purpose...because the people who marched were community people, respected for their efforts to help people and change things for the better...representing that special 1 % of Americans, we are going to take OUR government back...and now it has begun...

28. You said it....
What is turning the tide here is the spectre of a DRAFT.

I was 12 years old during the height of the Vietnam War, and I definitely recall that the public's opposition to that war blossomed as all these young draft age people saw the writing on the wall.

We need to push this spectre as hard as we possibly can. Nothing mobilizes resistance like the knowledge that your own ass in on the line. "Professional reporters" have no backbone about this because they stand little to no chance of a government mandated trip to Iraq in a military uniform.

29. the DRAFT is certainly being heavily discussed inside the
beltway...the military says one thing in front of the public, but there are tons of press conferences and generals saying that we are OUT OF TROOPS and nobody is re-enlisting, the National Guards weekend-warriors have already been essentially drafted, since they can't leave Iraq and are stuck there now for years at a time...and with the start of the new TET offensive, it seems that the situation is spinning wildly out of control...that was when the pentagoon really started dragging draftees out of their homes/classrooms....remember MacNamara's 100,000?...that was when the pentagoon got really desparate, and started grabbing up guys with no higher that a 6th grade education for cannon fodder...the DRAFT will grab anyone and everyone, everywhere across America...only the real wealthy politically connected will survive...the dick cheney's, the bush*, the asscrofts...they'll make it out...the rest ??? be afraid, be very afraid....

when the hurricane hit Virginia recently, there was NO National Guard to call up, had to import help from other states....

how are the California fires going? did they get the California National Guard out there to dig fire lines and set up camps for the professional firefighters...we need troops HERE, in America...

and I think that college students must be smelling it now that their OWN asses are in the cross-hairs for that 'big sucking sound'...the DRAFT....

21. hi youngred ! but you made it to the DC March!!!....did you watch it
on C-span ? some of us here are concerned about the students who clapped FOR wolfowitz during the questions...can you give us some insight for that...I feel like GW is very conservative...do you know much about the audience that may have been there? would they reserve some seats for wolfo's cheerleaders or GW's reTHUGlican student club? do GW students love wolfo, or are they just being polite or admiring a good response? we are very concerned, and as you may recall from our dinner, I am very old and have little perspective....it's so different than my younger days at the U of Michigan...

and every 'little' human interest stories (I have heard wolfo use those same 'touching' stories over and over and over) fail to address the BIGGER stories that the Undersecretary of Defense should be talking about....like what about your most recent trip to baghdad, wolfo, the trip you wouldn't mention at all...where were all the 'happy Iraqis' then...the 'happy Iraqis' who blew you out of your luxury hotel with a battery of missiles...you didn't even mention the Lt.Col. who was KILLED...
