1. If you call using the scare tactic of the fires to push through more....
forest initutives and legistlature, so some over you rich friends can get richer, then ya I'd say thats just about as good as terrorism wheather you started the flames or not.

12. more Bush terrorism
Death you're right on target!

This regime has shown it will stop at nothing to get its way, to line the pockets of its buddies.

The real terrorists are in the White House.

3. No chance at all.
Lighting a fire is called ARSON. It has always been called arson until some politicians figured out there were votes in scaring the shit out the public with buzzwords.

If you want to speculate as to who would do such a thing, there is a greater statistical likelihood of a firefighter lighting one than there is of a 'terraist' doing it.

5. Well
Arson, under the patriot act, is called terrorism.

Domestic or not, it's still terrorism.

4. Don't give the repukes any ideas!
I doubt it though...if you don't claim responsibility for a wildfire...how are we supposed to be scared you may do it again?

9. No reason to believe they were acts of terrorism
A couple arson, one because of a hunter setting off an illegal flare, another firearm setting one off (sparks I think) and bone dry conditions due to drought and dry brush.

10. I don't think so.
Arson, a few sparks in dry areas, and current conditions.

We're in a drought cycle...but, last winter/spring, we got enough rain to really grow the brush. No rain since; there's more than usual, it's really dry, and the winds whipping everything up are typical.

That and the bark beetle infestation that has killed so many trees in the forests.

I'd like to see us beef up forest/chapparal management with controlled burns, rather than waiting a generation or so for the inevitable wildfire to clean everything out. My area had serious fires a year ago; many evacuated, homes lost...I've been riding my horse through the burned out hills and mountains since. And watching the recovery. It's an amazing thing to see. I can get my horse down many trails that were entirely grown over; many canyons are now accessible that weren't before. The only thing I haven't seen regenerating is the manzanita that used to cover the hills.:(

Fire has a place in the natural course of things; why not use it to manage areas, rather than let the fuel load build until it feeds destructive wildfires?

13. Not a serious chance it was terrorism
Frankly, I am having a hard time believing that it was intentional arson at all. They have, I think, just one witness who says they saw a person or persons sitting in a van in Waterman Canyon throwing lit matches or some other incendiary-type device out of the car window. Wildfires have been a fact of life in California for time in memoriam. I think that one of this magnitude in this area was inevitable under the conditions.
