Paul Harvey says the war in Iraq is for oil.
Edited on Fri Oct-31-03 02:44 PM by spotbird
About an hour ago he was talking about the House approving the 87b without any real controversy. Harvey went on to lament that not a single Representative suggested that 1b be diverted for alternative energy research. Then he said that history will look back at our huge vehicles which we drive on cheap oil and wonder why we thought 87b was so cheap. Naturally this is a paraphrase but the essence is the accurate. Not a word about WMD, Saddam or 9/11, it’s a war for oil according to Paul. Amazing.

On edit:

I found it. The Iraq part starts at 6:51 on the Friday noon report.

1. Paul Harvey? I thought he was a loyal repub who
loves AWOL. If he has finally turned the corner and realizes how badly bush* has handled Iraq, then there is great cause for hope!!

6. Yes, that is remarkable
I thought Harvey was a hopeless gay-bashing republican zealot. Maybe he was too smart not to figure out the Bush cabal. Of course, if you just Google up some headlines, anybody can figure them out in about an hour.

8. I can't tell if he likes it or not.
I mean, lots of repugs know the war was about grabbing their resources... that's why they were for it! I can't tell if Paul Harvey thinks it's okay to have a war for oil. Lot's of people do. Lot's of people who buy gas-guzzling Hummers. If you tell them the war was for oil, they say, "Damn right" and "Good."

12. OK, so who was that and what did he do with Paul Harvey?
I had him in lock-step with Cal "See no Evil Write no Evil" Thomas as far as politics went...
Perhaps we misunderstood it, was he saying that this was a GOOD thing, that we went to Iraq to steal their Oil?

18. Have you considered
...that the head yakkers of the conservative movement (like Paul Harvey) no longer even care to cover up the seedy side of their agenda?

Arrogance of power, and all that.

19. If he didn’t make the oil for war exchange
sound like a poor deal I’d think that’s what’s up. If you get a minute listen to what he said, he definitely thinks that it is too high a price to pay and it makes oil not that cheap after all.

20. Well
One correct thing out of that shill's mouth does not make me like him any more. The best thing that could possibly come out of this is that people who just love Paul Harvey, and who are usually conservative, will agree and vote against Bush in 2004. If it stays on their minds that long.

21. I don't think much of him either, which is why I thought what he said
was so amazing. There are quite a few folks who take what he says as gospel, so who knows what this it means. Things are getting curiouser and curiouser.

22. The "Old plagiarest"
Paul Harvey was the most hard headed supporter of Nixon right up to the day he (Tricky Dick) took his last helocopter ride... Right along with the products he hawked as if he was he was reporting "real" news... I was an apprentice in those days and had to listen to his crap because my brain-dead supervisor loved the guy... He was THEEE pioneer @ appealing to the disinfranchised white males accross America..... Many of the mush brained probably still adore the creep. Maybe this will give them pause to "think".

27. Alternative Energy seems to be one of his issues
Back when congress was appropriating money for HDTV I heard Paul Harvey say that it was a shame they were spending on something so trivial. He said we should be investing in alternative energy so we could avoid oil wars in the middle east.

Amazing how a guy like Harvey does back-flips for Bush while at the same time being directly opposed to him on this most important issue. :wtf:
