1. He Cancels Everything, Runs Back to the US Only to Have Them
Tell him "Everythings OK, we're not changing anything!", and yet they start dropping 2000 pound bombs on Iraq today.

Uh, ok :eyes:

2. Between the lines: "Stop GI casualties, whatever it takes"
If it takes killing Iraqi civilians, if it takes destroying Iraqi property, if it takes storming into civilians' houses at 3AM, if it takes lying, propagandizing, twisting, distorting:

Do it.

Dead sons and daughters hurt my reelection chances. Dead Iraqis don't.

3. The US does not count Iraqi casualties
officially. And no one can try an American in the International Criminal Court for war crimes or crimes against humanity either thanks to *.

4. My take:
Bremer knew that the CIA report was going public. Had to consult to get the right "spin" on the situation.

Notice that in the list of people he met with it did NOT include either Dubya or Condi Rice. he DID meet with the DOD types. What I think happened is that they kenw they were going to get some bad publicity and decided to up the ante militarily and totally ignore the CIA reprot. Bremer had to get the marching orders from the brass at the pentagon.

Just my opinion

5. From the headline....
It sounds as though it was Bremer who called the meeting. If it were Bush who originally called the meeting, we'd be seeing some kind of statement about changes that he wants to see made, hence the need for the meeting with Bremmer. I'm sure Bremmer sees the resumed 2000 lb bombings in Iraq as an action that will encourage MORE anti-American resentment. This attack in Nasiriya also shows our problems aren't just contained to the Sunni triangle. It seems lately, after a statement is made by this administration, the Iraqi insurgents do something to prove them wrong.
