"It's really insane over there..." returning GI on Iraq
I just watched this on the local news. There was a story about GI's coming home for some R & R and when a reporter asked one about things in Iraq, he responded, "It's really insane over there. You have no idea. I'm glad to be home."

I have this feeling that other returning GI's will start talking to their families and friends and over the holidays we will get another picture of the conflict.

6. Oh, yes.
But I understand they are no longer billing soldiers who are hospitalized for their daily food. That was UNBELIEVABLE!

17. Yep
you get time off, but wherever you go you gotta pay. Have to buy their own uniforms and replacements when things get torn up. Their equipment is back-ordered and defective. They still make no money, a pittiance of a salary raise that didn't help many of them.

didn't Bush promise to improve the lives of soldiers?

4. My father went to a Veteran's Day ceremony yesterday in a small town.
He called me last night, pretty shook up. There were two soldiers just back from Iraq that spoke. One had had a stroke, the other a nervous breakdown. I don't know how large the crowd was, but I know their words had a huge impact on my father. This administration can't hide the conditions and impact that this war is having on the troops.

7. It's Starting Already
Returning soldiers are starting to talk to friends and family and the Media. I think this is just the beginning and just the news Dimbo dosen't want the public to hear.

8. Every war is "insane"
how is the combat in Iraq more insane than in other wars? Do the bullets come faster? War is war. Stop acting so amazed about how "insane" things are over there. Was combat easier in the beginning of the war when our troops faced waves of Iraqi soldiers?
