DU is my "Reference Library!" The posters here link me to the WORLD!

I haven't been to my local library since I joined DU about 21/2 years ago. Know Why? Because everything Political I need to know, I can find on this site. Plus, I can interact with folks I would NEVER meet in my ordinary life who link me to other folks on websites outside my normal life.

For Reference, Research, Outreach to People from "Outside My Own Culture and Frame of Reference," plus "fun & games" and spritual stuff (Lounge and Meeting Room), where could ANYONE on the Internet find better than Democratic Underground? Where?

I have given my $35.00 Subscription three times now, the last in October.

Given the call for Pledges, I'm going to give DU more! I'm going to give them another $50.00 on top of my subscription.

You know why? Because I spend more time here reading articles and being informed than I ever did with all my magazine subscriptions. So, I'm cancelling the few I have left and I'm going to give to the site which links me to the WORLD OF PROGRESSIVES!

If we don't put what little $$$'s we have to put our "money where our mouths are" today, then we as a Nation are Lost. If our efforts here on DU are important then whatever money we can give will help "Block the Bushes" from sending us back into oblivion where we were serfs or slaves working for the "Massa!" In this case the BFEE and Globalists!

Give something. Send $5.00 in an envelope if you can't give more..but if you can give more, then DO IT! If it's worth our time to be here, then we need to support it.

Give to DU! (this has not been cleared or sanctioned by the BIG THREE who run this board.) I don't know them, they might "Tombstone" me tomorrow if I get out of line, but give to this.....especially now...when we and they need it.

Just my 2 cents and hope you guys/gals who are here so much, as I am, give a little more than you have in the past.

1. If this is your only source of political information...

...you are missing a hell of a lot of important information. Not to mention differing perspectives, and alternate views. DU is a great place to hang and get informed, but it isn't the only source. Restricting yourself to only one view and one source is a very bad habit in my opinion. Look at what happens to those who watch only Fox news.

Others will probably disagre with me though.

I do agree that supporting DU is an excellent thing if you can afford it.

2. DU is a masterpiece

I only wish I could join you KoKo is your generous gifts,
However, I literally don't have food in the house and many times,
not able to get needed medicine.

Anyway, didn't mean to sound like a downer, but it's one of the
things I miss the most about being broke, not being able to give.

I love DU, and the people here. It is not my only source of news
though but DU has news before any and is discussing it before the
broadcasters even catch on.

3. Well, I still think some here could give more. and myself included..I'm

not posting this for those of you who can't give....but those who can stretch a little more And, I'm not even saying you need to give BIG BUCKS.....who wants Elad, Skinner, Earl to end up millionaires on some Island with a Tax Account that can't be audited. I certainly don't! I'm very frugal with what I have. It took me too long to work for it...and Bush is trying to get it....but even the teeniest amount...

And, as I said....I don't even know these guys except from their photo in the Lounge the other day. They aren't friends of mine....but they do some good stuff here.......even if I don't always agree with them....but they are just learning........
