BBV: Need more Republican support for HR2239
We are seeking additional volunteers to call Republican Representatives and ask them to support HR2239. Now that we have 3, perhaps others will break ranks.

If you would, please start with the list below, as we think these are "targets of opportunity," the most likely to agree with this bill. Then call the Representatives from your state (http://www.verifiedvoting.org/states.asp), and branch out from there if you still have time.

Please file reports with us at pass2239@verifiedvoting.org so we can update our database with any news you are able to gain.

And because it's important, keep it kicked for us huh?

Thanks,
Greg

1. Beauprez? Forget it
He's the guy who didn't want a hand count after he narrowly won against Feeney. Now the Colo State Supreme Court will shortly throw out the redistricting map, his seat is in danger again.

3. Unrelated comment.... (but good thread) - Morons in Ohio
.. even if I think it may push the boundaries of DU compatibility a bit.

WELCOME to the Times Bulletin

... The board also made a decision yesterday for its electronic voting
machine choice. By a vote of four to zero, the board voted for Diebold.

6. I talked to one of his staffers back in August
She said that they weren't sure, and probably wouldn't be until it came out of committee.

11. You'll have it after tomorrow, and now we need to talk about
what to do with the paper ballots.

The big forgetful item.

1) Need an emergency interim solution for the primaries.
2) Need routine robust manual check of voter verified paper ballot against machine tally every election every time.

Remember, we have documented the optical scans flipping elections time after time.

HR 2239 will come and yes, we need to push it but it is NOT the victory -- it does nothing about optical scan fraud/misprogramming, nothing about an interim solution, and nothing about proper auditing.

Yes, 2239. But get your head around the next step, and do not allow public perception to consider this "winning the issue." Because HR 2239 doesn't win the war, just one of the three battles. The other two: interim solution and auditing, including optical scans.

15. Remember, Those Machines For The Disabled...
They will be used by everyone who goes to the polls. Even though they are set-up for the disabled, they will be used by anyone they can get to use them, when they are not being used by a disabled person.

Imagine a picture in the newspaper of some unknowing schmuck walking out of the polls with a big, satisfied smile on his face. The interview will find that this guy loved the fact he got to vote on a computer. It's so much fun. It's so easy. But, is he aware of what happened to his vote? Hell, no, he had fun doing it.

Great PR for Diebold, ES&S, Sequoia, et al.
