It seems body counts are a new feature
Maybe I am off on this, but it seems we are now producing a body count of dead Iraqis for the press. Note the counter attack on the insurgents this weekend, so far, I have seen 2 numbers.

Up to now, it seemed that we had 'more important things to do' than count enemy dead.

I remember during Vietnam it was always important to note that we killed more of theirs, than they killed of ours. November was a rough month. Perhaps they have decided to begin using this method to balance the press coverage.

I understood that the body counts in Vietnam were often exaggerated.

It seems that this may be another sign of 'quagmire accomplished'.

1. The Crusaders are there to kill Muslims and seize oil

Especially with the oil seizure running a bit behind schedule, it's important to let the voting classes know that they are at least getting their money's worth in dead Iraqis.

2. I doubt that you will see many more body counts.
Too similar to Vietnam, and somebody at the Pentagon is bound to remember to problems of those and issue some sort of order against it.

3. This is a cluster fuck of a war.......
The president cannot define clearly why we are there, or what are mission is, because he changes it whenever the facts change.

WOMD got traction, and they scared the hell out of Americans with the threat. If you were against the war or suggested further proof of the threat. You got a smug "Do we need a mushroom cloud as proof of a smoking gun" retort.

Then it became about liberating them. Or about mass graves.

Or about bunches of other things....

Remember "shock and awe"?

Based on how poorly the Iraq army was equipped to fight us. I am glad that sanity returned to the Pentagon in time to pull the plug on the Shock and Awe strategy. Surely that would have been a gross overuse of deadly force to beat an enemy ill prepared to fight us.
