I figured out who Howard Dean's running mate should be.
How about former Senator Bob Kerrey (D) Nebraska as Howard Dean's running mate?

Kerrey is a moderate from a rural state, and has millitary experience that could blunt some of the attacks on national security. I think they would make a good team i.e. Clinton/Gore in 1992.

6. war crimes links
http://www.counterpunch.org/valentine.html

By now everybody knows that former Senator Bob Kerrey led a seven-member team of Navy Seals into Thanh Phong village in February 1969, and murdered in cold blood more than a dozen women and children.

What hardly anyone knows, and what no one in the press is talking about (although many of them know), is that Kerrey was on a CIA mission, and its specific purpose was to kill those women and children. It was illegal, premeditated mass murder and it was a war crime.

Former Senator Bob Kerrey (D-Nebraska) was a presidential hopeful and a rising star in the Democratic party when, for some reason, this January he suddenly decided to drop out of politics. At the time, his decision puzzled his friends and supporters: now, they know why. For he knew that the real story about what happened "One Awful Night in Thanh Phong" – as Gregory L. Vistica's piece on Kerrey's career as a war criminal is entitled – was about to come out. If you want to read a story that just about sums up the horror and immorality of the Vietnam war, then follow the link to the New York Times Magazine article by Vistica on the 1969 massacre carried out by "Kerrey's Raiders" in the small Vietnamese hamlet of Thanh Phong.

7. Wouldn't the warcrimes allegations help Kerrey?
If swing voters are looking for someone who will beat down terrorists, how would that be a problem?

13. If he was a republican say like Ollie North it would definitely help him.
As a Democrat though he could never make it.

11. VP may help you win a home state, but...
VP may help you win his/her home state, and an experienced
politcal operative may help you after you are elected, but
VP won't usually add to the resume of the Presidential candidate.
The Pres. candidate succeeds/fails on their own leadership
abilities.

Therefore, you can balance the ticket geographically. Or you can get someone who can help you pass legislation. Or you can take someone who is philosphically compatible with whom you can work.

My recommendation is that since VP doesn't matter much, is that Dean select Mayor/Governor Jerry Brown. He shares many of the same
philosophies about giving power back to the people (see his
1992 We the People campaign theme), is incredibly innovative, and
will be protection that "empowering the people" should continue if anything should ever happen to Dean. Also, it helps take California out of play.
