OHMYGOD!!! Guess Who Just Returned My Call?

FOLKS! I HAD to share this with you.

PLEASE forgive my yelling, but okay, dammit, I'm YELLING!!!! Love me ANYWAY!!!

I was here cruising through DU and saw the thread about "Liberals Finding Their Voice - and It's Angry" from USA Today. In it, among other things and people, was a quote from an Ann Lewis, described as a "veteran strategist with the Democratic National Committee" who was quoted as saying "we have been too nice. We have been too polite." I was glad to read this.

So, in a fit of nutsy-ness, I called information for the DNC in Washington and got it (202) 479 - 5100 - if anybody's interested. Asked for Ann Lewis's office and was put through to her voicemail. Left a message saying I'd read the piece, saw her quote, thoroughly agreed with it/her, and wanted to do ANYTHING I could to help, including perhaps maybe humbly if I at all possibly could - to send her some things I'd written regarding possible talking points, that they could USE! Especially since Newt Gingrich and Frank Luntz and other republi-CONS never hesitate to manipulate and commandeer the language to OUR detriment and the benefit of the bad guys.

Son-of-a-gun if she did not just CALL ME BACK!!! And here I am, a FORMER journalist, now retired, and basically with no connections and pretty much by now a nobody that few people remember despite my many years on the air. Doesn't matter! She CALLED ME BACK. When I'd picked myself off the floor, we chatted for a moment, and actually she gave me SEVERAL minutes of her time. She was happy to accept my ideas and encouraged me to send them. I just did.

I posted the first one a few days ago, and again this morning, here. Some people here may have seen it.

HERE IS PART TWO:

MORE WAYS TO REFER TO REPUBLI-CONS:

Point 1: "The Party of Cain." Reference to Cain and Abel in the Bible. Cain uttered that famous quote after God came looking for him following the murder of Abel. Cain asked God "Am I my brother's keeper?" DEMOCRATS would answer - "YES, OF COURSE! That's what we're here for!" The Republi-CONS would say "FORGET THAT! SCREW my brother! Let him get his own! What's MINE IS MINE and I'm KEEPING IT!"

Which brings me to point 2:

"IGMFU" - an anagram my dad used to love, as a staunch republi-CON himself. "IGMFU" (pronounced "Iggum-foo") stands for "I Got Mine, F-U."

To me, this perfectly sums up the attitude and reason for being of the Republi-CON party, the Republi-CON-ARTISTS, and their Republi-CON-GAMES.

Granted, I told her, the "IGMFU" might be a little - uh - "pungent" for usage on the air, but in internal memos and on the dais of some banquet or at some podium that you only see covered on CSPAN or - dare I dream - in testimony before Congress or some place - it can and should be used. It'll get a great laugh, if nothing else, and it'll damned well be memorable, which is what we want.

Granted this is the dumb-ass DNC. Granted Terry McAuliffe seems to be completely worthless - she said he was doing everything he could to engineer ways to disseminate talking points. But she wanted to see my stuff and wanted to put me on her list of activist women to whom she emails on a weekly basis.

HOT DIGGITY DOG!!!

Just wanted to share that with you. That these numbskulls would actually be reaching out to "the little guy" - the way the Deanies do - is a REVELATION! Maybe it means the tide is turning. MAYBE. I won't hold my breath, but now, at least somebody has heard me screaming!

Remember, YOU TOO can reach out and touch somebody and have an impact and make yourself heard! No reason it wouldn't work for you, too. 'Cause we HAVE to get out there and fight. And fight hard! And fight TO WIN!!!
