Why?

ON EDIT: Actually, I think a few of them have said it. I know Dean, Edwards, and Sharpton have.

22. Well, kind of...
He said he didn't think it was "in the cards". All the candidates at this point have to run as if they wanted the top spot and nothing else. Like Edwards...he says he's "in it to win". Graham gracefully sidestepped the "running for VP" question, too, though I don't remember his exact words.

Note that Clark didn't answer "absolutely not", when asked that question. He has to downplay the possibility that he won't get the top spot; all the candidates have to.

It's worth noting here that Clark said he would consider Dean for his VP. He avoided saying other candidates were unqualified (Wolf was trying to railroad him), but just touted his own strengths. Pretty good IMO.

Clark/Dean, Dean/Clark, Anyone/Anyone...I don't care as long as Bush is outta there!

13. I think he was giving the field of Democratic candidates
a thumbs up! HE was focused on GWB and keeping it real.
So, let me get this straight, Clark has something good to say about the entire Democratic field of candidates and you

STILL FIND SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT!

HE hasn't attacked anyone except GWB. Even when pushed he wouldn't.

I get it... you HATE CLARK. Is that it? Just come on out and say it.
No need to beat around the bush. We have your message it is crystal loud and clear.

23. The intra-candidate infighting is tearing us apart...
...and, regardless of how much time and money I've devoted to the Dean campaign, I'm becoming sickened by the supporter infighting.

My brother is a small businessman and I learned more about business AND politics by a statement he made to a potential client in regards to his competition. The potential client client queried him about one of his competitors. He answered, "oh yes, I know them (his competitor). They're very good, but we're better..."

Yes, I know Wesley Clark. He's very good, but Dean's better. Let me leave it at that...

24. I asked because I remembered someting else from the CNN
appearance. Once I got the transcript (thanks again), I doublechecked how he handled Blitzer's repeated question of him: So you think Dean isn't qualified to be President?

Clarkies will love (or pretend to, in order to defend) how he handled those repeated questions. I found his answers (once again) declasse' but mostly just real self-serving.

YMMV.

26. It is vital to disconnect words from the meaning of words
Especially when trying to prove a spurious point, as you are. Clark was asked an obnoxious question by an obnoxious man, and politely refused to take the bait.

But naturally that is not suitable for the high-minded at DU.

Doesn't Clark know that he isn't supposed to be campaigning for Clark: he's supposed to be campaigning for Dean!

28. I heard the interview and wrote down comments that worried me. I didn't
post about them because I figured it would be a "flame fest" but glad someone had put out the transcript of the CNN interview.

I find him to be total military. I'm uneasy with that given that Bush has already made the country "militaristic." I feel Clark doesn't have enough experience domestically and has a point of view (because he's spent his whole life in the military) which would color how he serves as President.

When he said about finding Saddam ".....take him out and eliminate." I got cold chills. That's Bush Speak. There were other statements he made which worried me, but that one said it all.

30. He said, "......take out and eliminate Saddam." Not bring to trial for
crimes, but take out and eliminate. I'm posting this on it's own because it will get lost in my reply above on this thread.

If one doesn't have a problem with that statement then Clark is your Candidate. He will "take out and elminate."

That's what the military does...this whole fear of the the military thing among some factions of the Democratic party is a perfect example of why the dem party is in trouble right now.

32. That's what the military does, and what Bush does, but why would you want
Edited on Mon Dec-01-03 11:06 PM by KoKo01
a candidate who does what the military does and what Bush does to be President representing the Democratic Party and those of us here, who DON'T believe "Take Out and Eliminate," are words to use for Leaders of foreign countries. Talk like that is what the Bush's are all about.

If that doesn't bother you, then I wonder why?

34. We are there NOW, that is the reality
Clark was against the invasion like most of us were...taking out Saddam is one small, but important step, in getting us out of there...no one, not even Dean wants to just get up and leave Iraq.

Clark is thinking like the smart military man he is. Bush got us into the mess Clark is thinking of ways to get us out of it.

38. No, he was only against
the way the invasion was executed. And he wants to "get us out of there" HIS way.

The manner in which this web site has turned militaristic bothers me greatly.

WE DO NOT HAVE TO TURN INTO REPUGS TO BEAT THEM!

40. no one's turning into repugs
Clark is not a repug, not even close - just because he likes the military does NOT make him a repug...his policy position place him squarely in the Dem camp...

What do you want him to do? Sure it's HIS way, like Dean has his own way too, and both are WAY better than Bush's way.
