Has Lou Dobbs always been obssessed with immigration?
He talks about immigration more than Pat Buchanan.:eyes:

1. No kidding. It is SO funny.
Edited on Mon Dec-01-03 06:29 PM by WhosNext
He's constantly talking about "illegals" and "shipping jobs overseas". It's so bizarre that it's funny. If he's so anti-free trade and anti-open borders, then why the hell is he a Bushbot?

2. I think he is a xenophobe
and is using immigrants as cheap shots. Whenever there is a recession, immigrants are usually the first one to get the brunt of the blame. It happened during the Great Depression, and it can happen today.

3. It has been really interesting the last couple weeks
The funniest thing was last week, the secretary of commerce (I think it was) was on. He stated something like "over the last 20 years we have created over 40 million Jobs", and Lou stopped him to make sure he heard him correctly because he was just taking credit for the Jobs created by Clinton! I couldn't believe Lou said that!

4. It's an old Capitalist trick
And Dobbs is an old Capitalist.

Read about the history of our country. Immigrant groups are always set against each other, to distract them from directing their anger at the bosses.

Unfortunately, the trick still seems to work.

6. You poor saps...try thinking for yourselves....
...inztead of simply regurgitating whatever the corporate media pours into your empty little heads.

Have you ever heard of The Social Contract? The social contract with your fellow citizens is stronger than the social contract with citizens of other countries. Have you ever heard of the law of supply and demand? Every time a non-citizen comes to this country to do work, one or more of your fellow citizen's wallets gets a little thinner. Did that ever make the short journey across your mind?

Lou Dobbs is a patriot nonpareil, and you would would do well to listen to him......

7. Oh....now that's funny, whether you meant it to be or not
Sure. It's not that jobs have been going overseas -- it's all those illegal immigrants coming here stealing them that's the problem, right?

Keep on fighting for the right to fight the right fight for the right!

:hi:

10. that is an EXCELLENT question!
Damn, it is good to hear one!

DK is a real progressive, and a man who has a grudge against the established powers--he has shown this repeatedly. he also supports proportional representation. Comparing a nation without proportional representation to one with proportional representation is like comparing a model T to a Ferrari.

Once we get proportional representation, we can start to make this country into one where we work to live, instead of vice versa.

A true "social contract" is not defined by geographical origins, but rather current presence. It matters not from where a group of people comes from, but rather, them being there in itself merits the existance of a social contract, period. Why is this? The process in itself is nothing more or less than what I dub "cooperative extortion" (aka liberalism). Immigrants or citizens, illegal or not, must be given some incentive to submit their natural powers to the authorities that be, in order to define and uphold a social structure in which the upper class can unproportionally profit from. To not create such an incentive will lead to social disorder from the disadvantaged class, and hence, lead to environmental conditions in which domestically based entities cannot retain wealth (as the disadvantaged now have no incentive to abide laws which gaurentee property possession).

A social contract's weight must not be based upon where the people come from, but rather, the calculated effect of social unrest from that particular group (and other groups which follow their lead--legal hispanic immigrants). So, when you elimate a liberalistic approach to dealing with any major culture in any society, you can send shockwaves through such a society, as that group no longer is bound by an implicit submittal of their natural powers to the authority. That group is then "free" to do whatever they may want: pillage, steal, kill, etc, creating an environment in which many 7-11 owners might find it hard to make a buck (it is hardley cost effecient to wage this type of "war").

Any time your dealing with groups of this size, it isn't time to make up fake rules about who your responsibility is more to, and hence, exclude whole groups that are not your priority. Every action must be weighed by the liberalistic effect on every group. Anything less is irresponsible to the social structure as a whole.

Why don't you just make that your sig line OrAnarch
so you don't have to robotically type it over and over
in response to every issue.

If you need instructions on how to set your sig
line feel free to ask DUers. They're generally
very helpful.

excuse the spelling error, as the paraphase brackets are read as coded html. Besides that, forgive me for quoting the person I was directly responding to (BTW, it was more copy/paste from their comments than robotic typing). Guess thats a sin around here, eh?

Can't do anything right around here can ya? Aren't my feelings hurt.

I also was less than pleasant. On such a board where opinions constantly clash, all is fair, as long as we can all learn something at the end of the day. :)

17. Would you clean toilets and make beds?
Not to worry, we have thousands of hardworking immigrants who are happy to work at it so you don't have to sully your soft, privileged hands. So before you bad mouth "illegals" remember that without them your cleaning and maintanence industries would collapse, probably taking a huge chunk of the national economy with it.

Go put that on your Dobbs worshipping altar.

16. Orders from on high. They want it to be a wedge campaign issue for Dems.
This way Bush keeps the right in line on demagogued issues like this and gay marriage.

18. As an economist, I'm surprised he'd poopoo such important workers
His precious economy would likely fall into the shitter if it weren't for all these nasty "illegals" who clean toilets, make beds, prepare meals, clean floors and do all sorts of jobs that many lighter skinned and more priviliged Americans would find beneath them.

So Lou....from the bottom of my heart. Fuck you.
