Hannity & Liberal to be Determined: Awesome Expose...
http://www.fair.org/extra/0311/hannity-colmes.html

Hannity & Colmes, Fox News Channel's primetime debate show, figures prominently in the cable network's campaign to market its right leaning programming as "fair & balanced," the network's ever-present slogan. Fox News executives argue that the show, pitting conservative Sean Hannity against liberal Alan Colmes with guests from both right and left, presents a spirited and evenhanded nightly debate.

Fox News president Roger Ailes is clearly riled by those who suggest the show has a slant to it (New York Times, 6/24/01): "I get attacked for putting Sean Hannity on because he's a conservative--even when Alan Colmes, the liberal, is there to balance him!" Ailes is so insistent that Hannity & Colmes plays it "down the middle" that he says producers use a stopwatch to ensure equal time between the two hosts (Washington Post, 2/5/01).

1. Colmes
is a lousy representative of the left. He's comppletely out of touch with the trends and movements that are driving the primary races.

10. Thanks for sharing that :^)
Bloom county is my all-time fave comic strip, followed closely by The Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes. :^)

RFK Jr. on the show the other night. (He kicked butt, btw)

Almost retched, though, listening to Hannity bluster his way around. If this guy was a trial lawyer, he'd lose every case he ever took! I guarantee you he was not captain of the debate team in school!

7. colmes
is nothing but a mannequin. Usually agrees with the conservatives (when he actually states an opinion). He is definitiely not Paul Begala. But this is "fair and balanced' in the world of FOX.

I call them "Asshat and Doormat"

Wanna make the show interesting? Put Carville on opposite Asshat. But no way would they subject the golden boy to that kind of nightly abuse.

It would actually the Hannity ass-kissing fest watchable. It currently is not.

9. Fox
Clearly structured that show for Hannity to win.

Hannity is loud abrasive and arrogant.
They coupled him with a soft spoken self depricating person who tries to see all sides of an issue while Hannity steamrolls it with rhetoric.

add to that colmes less than camera friendly looks and you have Hannity winning every debate on style points alone.

14. I once suggested to a right-wing friend of mine...
...to collaborate on a webpage where we'd take one issue a week and each write 1000 words or so arguing our differing points of view - kind of like Point/Counterpoint from the old 60 Minutes. He declined. Big time. Wouldn't touch it.

I guess words vs. words with no pictures was too much for him to take.

15. Imagine if Paul Begala or James Carville
were up against Hannity, with Ailes' stopwatch. Compare.
