We Must Draft Hilary!
My heart, mind, and soul say's that the best way to insure a Democrat into the White House in 2004 is a Hilary Clinton, and Howard Dean ticket!
Why she would wait until 2008 does not make any sense to me at all. If Resident Bu$h*t takes another term there won't be an America as we know and love it. This attitude that some profess, "anyone but Bu$h*t" is a defeatist position. There has to be a candidate of power, and imagery that can lead our party, and our country back to glory and respect.
If Hilary is waiting to announce her candidacy she had better hurry, or we must draft H.R. Clinton!
Then again I pray that she's not waiting for a sign from the Bilderberger's!

62. Clark /Clinton souds better !
Actually I believe the Dem dream team would be Gore/Clark ! I doubt Clinton would be the V.P. for anyone in reality, at least not in 2004 .Now if a Dem wins in 2004 I believe she would consider V.P. in 2008 ,setting herself up for a 2012 run for the White House. I still believe strongly, that at this point the Dems would be very united behind a second Gore win ! I still believe we can make this missed oppertunity a reality by drafting Gore at the convention !

The Repukes are salivating at the prospect of Hillary running. It would be the biggest simultaneous orgasm ever experienced in world history.

It just sounds funny that you are promoting it. Funny peculiar not funny ha ha, by the way. Why anyone would come to DU and try to gin up support for a Hillary run, which the right-wing fucks dream about, and therefore would turn all rational debate into a smear Hillary orgy, is beyond me. Very odd.

Yes, I vote.

30. Your Wrong
I am sorry my liberal friend but you are wrong. This concept is not my own, you might want to question the intelligence of one Bernie Ward, and a Ray Taliaferro (KGO Radio San Francisco). And alot of Democrats that know that we have to get a winning formula, and a representative in the White House.
And as far as the statistics go that claim that American's are more liberal than not, check out Michael Moore's #1 Best Seller "Hey Dude...Where's My Country?"

12. The majority of Americans don't know what they are
The majority is not liberal, the majority is not conservative. The majority is whatever the politicians tell them they are. Why do you think so many morons out there vote for Republican, when it only ends up hurting them (since they aren't in the upper class)? They fall for the bullshit rhetoric.
Surely you don't believe that everyone who voted for Bush did so because they love jingoism and fascism.

And, no, Hillary does not have any magic about her that will really energize the left of America. Dean is already doing it, Kucinich is already doing it, hell, even Clark is doing it.

All that Hillary running would bring about would be tons of right wing assholes screaming, "See, I told you so!!!". And then the fundraising would begin.

Imagine it! "Hillary hates America! Hillary wants to take your guns away! Hillary wants to take all of your money and give it to communists!"

Maybe you should think things through a little more.

then its Dean's choice.

I think it would work out great!

The Hillary haters already vote GOP - so it is all pick up.

The GOP GOTV effort will be huge and effective and not made more effective by Hillary being on the ticket.

She locks down the Midwest for Dean - but if Dean had a mountain state or South other than Florida hope, she also kills that hope (Florida will still go Dem)

...but I still think Hill is committed to staying the course as NY Senator. That said, if Clark won the Democratic nomination, and chose Hill for his VP, then there's the possibility for 8 yrs of Pres. Clark and a successive 8 yrs of President Hillary Clinton. Wow. She'd have earned the country's trust by performing well as a VP, so when she runs for Prez, it's not such a far stretch for the public to see her as Prez.

Depends... what about his penchant to incite other nations to develop nuclear weapons, and if the US can built 'designer nukes' then so can other nations, and use them. Maybe not American people, but what about the American and the world environment? The Navy killing off all sea life with their military sonar tests, unabated dumping of toxic chemicals by gleefully profitable corporations big and small, etc etc etc! I do not want to entrust my country to another 4 dangerous years.

That was one of my thoughts as I posted this idea (not entirely my own) that the women would come out in droves to vote for her. And especially after the sales of her best selling book, which could be used as a indicator of popularity or familiarity.
Then the Dean faithfull turning out for the ticket, along with alot of other factors presents a winning formula.

of Hilary Clinton. I happen to really like Clinton. Apparently I'm not the only one who feels that way, as I'm sure many of you have seen the polls that put Clinton as much as 3 times higher in the polls than any Dem candidate. All I hear on the boards is that we need to nominate someone who can win: Dean can win, Clinton can win, but not if we keep tearing them down and repeating this false idea that Americans need Democrats to be like the Republicans.

55. Clinton/Dean or Dean/Clinton...yeah, THAT's the ticket!

Come on man, maybe in your dreams, but how badly would such a due get trounced? Every rightwinger in the country would vote, and they'd vote TWICE. And Diebold would be working extra-hard on that election day..

56. No Thank You...
Her only advantage...is name recognition. Then again Lieberman has e name recognition, but I don't have much confidence in his ability to beat Bush. Also, I hardly see any indication that Hillary's foreign policy would be any better than Lieberman's (actually I think it'd be worse). She still supported the war, corporate giveaways like the bankruptcy "reform" (which her husband VETOED). Not to mention the patriot act. She also meets makes idiotic statements praising Pakistan's role in "fighting terrorism" (funny, because I hear the same BS from the administration).

I don't know about others, but I'd vote for Lieberman over her in the primaries. I also believe, if there's one person more polarizing than Bush*, it's Hillary. She wouldn't really have much of a chance.

Thank God only a few people are taking the bait. Yeah, you sound like you support Hillary.

BTW, you guys have really sucky coordination. Starting a thread on the subject every 10-12 hours isn't gonna do you any good. Believe it or not, we can tell time too. But if it keeps you busy and off FR, then why not...

60. HELP!!!
My local news rag www.th-record.com has two letters to the editor today bashing Hillary for going to Iraq. I thought of responding, but she has been so bad as a rep (such poor, distant leadership, unlike hard travelin Chuck Schumer) that I can't bear to defend her. The best I could do was write, "She wanted to visit the troops and relish the war that she voted for." I said nothing instead.

Most of the Democrats I know would sit home before they would vote for Hillary and she would definitely energize the right.

71. Hillary's time will come !
However I agree that this is not "her time" ! I actually felt and still feel that Gore could have corrected things by running .The party would be more united at this point ! Many would have got out and voted ,that now seem uninterested in the process ! With bushes money and power over the media ,we need a populist like Gore ! Another missed oppertunity ?

66. I've said this on many other threads
if Hilary breaks her promise to New Yorkers to serve out her term, she wont even take New York. I know I would be furious and have family members who worked very hard on her campaign who just wouldn't vote (they wont vote for *, they just wont vote).

68. Not at all
Hilary is too polarizing of a figure. As it stands now, the Republicans could have a depressed turn out. If Hilary was the nominee, then they would turn out in droves.

Not yet.

74. Draft Hillary?
There are already 2 "Draft Hillary" movements out there. I am a big supporter of her and I would love to see Hillary oust Bush in 2004! But, I feel Hillary will know when the right time is to run, so I will leave it up to her judgement. If she really wants 2004, she will put her hat in the ring. I think she's really looking at 2008 - I just don't know if Bush can be beat and I'm sure she feels the same way.

Why she would wait until 2004 perplexes me. Why would anyone want to clean up the wrath of another 4-years of this vile, odious regime. Our country cannot endure 4 more years of Bu$h*t, let alone the world!

You are correct we need to support our candidate in every way possible. I am in support of Howard Dean and will work harder than most to insure his Presidency.

I started this premise as a parallax view. It has been quite interesting to say the least.

Meanwhile, can we stop with the "draft" nonsense? The field is large enough as it is, and four or five of the candidates are solid.

I take it that you are a high poster (pun intended). What is it then, do we all become equal after attaining 1000+ posts?

I began my commitment to the Democrat Party the night Robert Kennedy was assassinated. I was knocking on doors in West Oakland, Ca. turning out the vote. I have and still remain loyal, regardless!

81. No we don't
Her running will simply enforce the stereotype the freepers have been talking about non-stop for 12 years. I do like the Clintons; I believe Bill was the BEST president we've had in years. But I would really lose respect for Hillary if she were to run now. She's given her word that she wouldn't and she should stick with it. I do like the idea of her replacing Daschle as minority leader!

83. are you kidding???
this is a terrible idea, "my liberal friend"

she WOULD get trounced, make no bones about it, AND she would doubtless overshadow whomever chose her as running mate!!! the vast majority of people don't understand what a boon the clinton administration was and they DON"T LIKE THE CLINTONS and PREFER THE BUSH DYNASTY because THE CLINTONS did not prop themselves up over the rest of AMerica. They were perceived as opportunists, shrewd, cunning, politcally savvy, unrespectable. The Bush clan, on the other hand, at least held itself to an entirely different moral standard, thereby distinguishing itself from "the rabble" and the rest of the political mainstream.

you see, those who didn't like Gore in 2000 didn't like him because his victory was not seen as OUR victory. the same goes for Hillary, I'm afraid.

86. Hillary will never become President in a million years!
The Right reviles her, and she has turned off a large percentage of the Left by her "going along to get along"-- most glaringly her votes on the Iraq war and the Patriot Act.

She is not to be trusted, and she is cannot be counted on when push comes to shove.

What unique abilities does she offer that would make people vote for her?

93. Image Is Everything
Probably for all the wrong reasons. The womens vote for one. Women will vote for her! And they relate to her, because of her cheating husband, and other family matters. Her book indicates an interest in her, being that it was a best seller. Maybe voting a woman into power would be a refreshing change. She knows the ins and outs of D.C. Lets face it the women is no dummy. She was a popular 1st Lady.
Image is everything in America, substinence is a lesser. Just ask those who voted for RayGoon! I am looking for a way we can take back our country. I fancied the notion of a Clinton/Dean tix as a variation on a theme. A Dean/Clinton would work in a more mysterious way, I am certain of it.
This post was a what if? Not a dogma.

SENATOR CLINTON is what's apropos.

IMO, continuing calling her just by her first name demeans a woman of her accomplishments and stature.
