Here's a thought.
A lot of us are tired by the infighting on DU lately. Pick a candidate you really aren't particularly fond of and identify one redeeming quality they represent for which you feel respect.

For me, I don't much like Kerry, but he stuck his ass on the line in Viet Nam and I can do nothing but applaud him for that.

Who do you NOT like, but has still done something you respect?

1. ok Dean
He represents the angry white male but I respect his ability to break all the rules. I don't like campaign reform and think Dean is doing the right thing by privately financing his campaign.

5. privately financing his campaign like kerry? I think not....
since almost ALL of Dean's campaign money comes from us campaign supporters!

12. Slinkerwink,
you're violating the spirit of the post. :p Tho I support Dean too. ;)

Seriously, what the heck unifies us? This crap we've seen here lately does not bode well for our party. We have to pull together, we have to fight over issues and not photo-ops.

2. Lieberman
More people voted for him than Bush in 2000.

6. Don't like Clark
Edited on Wed Dec-03-03 12:48 AM by Closer
But he's mighty fine in the looks department.

Kerry: very articulate and good record on liberal causes

Gephardt: fighter for the working folks

Edwards: good message, organized

Kucinich: a TRUE liberal and progressive. Great message. A believer.

Lieberman: (this is hard) he's probably actually funny in real life.

Mosley-Braun: good policies; strong role model for minorities

Sharpton: the best one-liners ever uttered. great at bashing Bush.

on edit: I figured I'd say something positive about all of them.

And Dean's neck isn't that thick or ugly. Talk about damning with insubstantial praise.

22. Seriously
Here's a happy thread where we're supposed to complement other candidates, and you say I don't like em but he looks nice.

I mean, what is that? That's nothing but snide and negative: it's nothing but lobbing the proverbial turd in the punchbowl.

I've seen this occur on other threads (not by you, but by many), where a pro-Candidate X thread is up, where supporters are congregating, talking about somesuch--and then a candidate Y supporter posts, ripping on X and pumping up Y.

It's not only inappropriate, it's inconsiderate, and simply a crummy and juvenile thing to do.

26. Save the criticism.
Forget talking about the candidates in a negative way. What policies do YOU want in the White House. Let's make a better country than we have. What do YOU like, what do YOU want to see changed?

7. Good replies so far
Come on guys, we are going to do so much more addressing what we're fighting for, what we think is good. Let's identify more good stuff and give our candidates a hard time if they're not fighting for our values.

We CAN take the White House, we just HAVE to state what we're for, what we want.

But Lieberman is the only candidate that I really am not particularly fond of in any significant way. There are many good things about all of them.

23. To address everyone
Bob Graham who dropped out was and is an honest man with the best interest of the people at heart.

Wes Clark has charisma and has the moral authority to wale on Bush.

Kerry has the same, but I've already complimented him and am not doing it again in the same thread (he's a good guy, I admit it).

Mosely-Braun is my wife's pick and she would KILL me for not saying a kind word. She does strive for important issues, we should listen to her.

D. Kucinich is Da Man! He has the heart and fervor this country needs.

Gephardt fought at one time for unions which are important in our nation.

Lieberman....I'm honestly kinda taxed here, he must have done something good somewhere.

Al Sharpton has the best zinging one liners anywhere.

Dean. Well, I like him, so I'll leave him alone. I'm not expressing a political agenda, I'm hoping to find some things we can agree upon.
