Famous Diabetic South Dakota Prisoners
Leonard Peltier - Native American accused of murdering two FBI agents and convicted on sloppy evidence in a kangaroo court; abandoned by Slick Willy (who was too busy pardoning crooks), Peltier remains in prison, where he suffers from diabetes.

Jackalope Janklow - Former South Dakota Governor involved in a number of traffic accidents and accused of raping and perhaps murdering a Native American woman; now accused of manslaughter (another traffic accident) and hiding behind his diabetic condition.

Will Janklow be convicted? If so, will he spend 27 years in prison, or will he be pardoned by George W. Bush about twelve months from now?

You never know, the judge himself may be afflicted with diabetes, which makes people do strange things!

1. For the life of me, I've never been able to understand..
Janklow's evading prison thus far, much less being repeatedly (serially) elected to state and national office. While I don't want to paint South Dakotoans in a derogatory light, I do know that there is quite a bit of continuing Native American bigotry among many. What else, could possible explain all of this?

Was anyone ever charged with his rape victim's murder? I've forgotten the details by now...

2. I grew up in a town that is considered among the most racist.
There are some pretty serious rednecks in South Dakota. Many of the people I knew hated McGovern with a red hot passion. I didn't have a clue why, because I didn't follow politics until long after I left South Dakota. (Incidentally, there's a corrupt, high-powered Seattle attorney named Judith Lonnquist who was one of McGovern's associates, though she may have gone bad long after they parted.)

I also remember the feuds between the cowboys and the hippies - or at least stories about cowboys beating them up, giving them haircuts, etc.

At any rate, there are some very conservative assholes in South Dakota, though I also remember people who seemed quite liberal in comparison. How did Tom Daschle get elected?

I forget the details of the Janklow rape, but I recently ran into a childhood acquaintance who is now working on the reservation. It's like one big community, and she claims everyone knows what really happened and Janklow is considered a rapist and murderer. Period.

3. question about 'Famous Diabetic South Dakota Prisoners" ?
Edited on Wed Dec-03-03 01:26 AM by amen1234
LOL, that is too funny and begs these challenging questions

does the term

'Famous Diabetic South Dakota Prisoners'

mean that they are famous for having diabetes?
or famous for being in South Dakota?
or famous for being prisoners?

or

does the term

mean that they are prisoners because of diabetes?
or prisoners who suffer from diabetes?
or prisoners who committed diabetic crimes?
or is diabetes caused by being a prisoner in South Dakota?
can you get diabetes from being in a South Dakota Prison?
does South Dakota put famous people in prison because they have diabetes?

or does the term

mean that South Dakota is famous for prisoners
or famous only if the prisoner develops diabetes
can a prison be a famous diabetic prison if they develop diabetes before becoming a prisoner, or is the term only used after becoming a prisoner, and then developing diabetes?
or does South Dakota prides itself on imprisoning those with diabetes?
or considers 'diabetes' to be a crime worthy of imprisonment?

why are there only TWO
'Famous Diabetic South Dakota Prisoners'

and do these TWO famous prisoners have some other diseases for South Dakota to brag about? diseases which were inadvertently excluded...diseases which may make others famous...perhaps they might be more accurately described as Famous AIDs-infected, diabetic, heart-diseased, cancer-ic South Dakota Prisoners....

Does South Dakota limit famousness only to ONE disease?
Does South Dakota limit only ONE disease to an adjective?
Isn't that real unfair to other diseases....?
Is South Dakota a real trend-setter in famous description of prisoners to date unheard of in other more populated states?
Do South Dakota Diabetic prisoners get any medical treatment, or is that only allowed if they are 'Famous'?
Are there any hospitals in South Dakota?
Is there insulin in South Dakota?
Is there a medical school in South Dakota?
Are there more than three people living in South Dakota?

there are lots of people here where I live (inside the Washington DC Beltway), and we wonder about South Dakota, not too often though...really hardly at all does South Dakota ghost across a few minds here......the headliner 'Famous Diabetic South Dakota Prisoners' seems incredibly stupid from the DC outlook, but we don't ever get anything from South Dakota, except to send your OUR taxes and no thanks for our subsidy....hope you get better soon....
