Fundraiser Gets Unexpected Boost

An unfriendly news account turned into an apparent boon for two pro-Democratic groups holding a Hollywood fundraiser last night, when Matt Drudge's Web site inadvertently prompted a huge increase in turnout, organizers said.

Drudge caused a stir among gossip columnists when he wrote Monday that Laurie David, wife of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" star Larry David, had sent an e-mail announcing a "Hate Bush" fundraiser for the two groups, America Coming Together and the Media Fund. Laurie David and others involved with the event say they never used the phrase "Hate Bush," but the fuss resulted in a surge of interest.

Son of a gun, this isn't going to go down well in Seattle, land of idiocy and CIVILITY. Folks here care more about civility than they do their own children.

It kind of reinforces what I've been saying for much of my political life: Never apologize for saying the truth and putting a little passion behind it. If burglars, rapists and murderers should be held accountable, why not the corporate thugs and politicians who do far more damage to society?
