Can a Democrat run on the Green and Democratic ticket?
I thought about this last night. I know in some states, like New York, it is possible to run on many tickets. In NY, for example, you can run as a Democrat or Liberal or both. You can run as a Republican or Conservative or both.

Can the same be done nationally? Can a Democratic candidate run as a Democrat and a Green? If so, maybe who ever wins the nomination can then challenge Ralph Nader for the Green Party nomination. It would be in the Green Party's best interest. Because, there would be no reason for "true Greens" not to vote for the Green ticket, instead of holding their nose and pulling the Democratic lever. That way, it would be much easier for the Green Party to reach the 5% threshold they need for funds, etc. Green Party candidates running at the local level would also get a boost. In the meantime, the Green Party can't be accused of "splitting the left."

Another benefit, is that the Green Party would have a strong voice in the Democratic Party's nomination process. Think about it. If the Green Party can nominate a Democrat. Then most Democratic candidates would want the Green Party endorsement/nomination. If members of the Green Party feel that the Democratic candidate is too Right-wing or too DLC for their taste, they nominate someone else.

This way we can actually help each other. Instead of bashing each other over the head all the time.

Just a thought.

1. I don't know if that's legal in all states...
The nomination papers in WI clearly ask for one party.
I don't know if you can submit two sets of papers, though.

2. I heop the Greens don't screw things up again!
I hope they do not send in a clown to steal votes from the Dems!
They blew it last time.

Please do not argue with me about this. If it were not for the Greens we would not have this criminal in the White House.

3. We should stop all the sidetalk.
If we want to derail the radicals in this Administration we have to elect a Democratic president. Everything has to be secondary to that. I know lots of folks think that is alarmist talk but I can't stress how foolish that is.

Look at what Bush did with a one-vote victory. If he wins fair and square because the opposition splintered off into various factions, what is there to stand in the way of a complete gutting of the Bill of Rights and the rule of law?

Wake up before its too late or you personally will have the opportunity to live under a real police state, right here and right now, and there will be no place to escape to.

5. I think that I'm right about this
But I could certainly be wrong. You don't vote for the President, but for a slate of electors for the electoral college. So I one candidate were running on both party tickets, and they had different electors, then even if more people voted for his electors, they would be split, and the vote might go to somebody else.

I am subject to crroection on this.
