If they succeed in replacing FDR with Reagan - I will never have another dime in my possession again

1. That's a Piecrust Promise
To quote some old movie I forgot the name of. Easily Made Easily Broken.

I mean it's a nice idea but I think the best thing for us to do is to make sure Reagan never makes it on the dime in the first place.

3. Good idea! Why not Gov. William J. LePetomaine?
After all, he was the first governor to appoint a black sheriff.

4. We can run a petition to get Reagan on the fifteen dollar bill instead.
People who think he is worthy of a dime might just fall for it.

6. A petition to put
him on the $3 bill would be a more effective statement i think, although Bush probably deserves it more.

7. I was thinking the same thing ...
Clerk hands me change, I pick out the dimes and hand them back. Sorry, I do not accept bogus money ... you can keep them.

Instead of penny bins (you know, need a penny ... take one, have a penny, leave one), there will be buckets of reagan dimes.

Cheers
Drifter

8. What's Next?
First they name an airport after him, next aircraft carrier, now they want to put him on a dime. Just what will they do next add him to Mt. Rushmore? I consider him to be one of the single worst examples of a President this country has ever had to suffer under.
By the way the now building USS Bush I would suggest be renamed the USS "Pandering To The Boss" as it was named by the current Navy Secretary for the father of our current President.

9. The tales of Saint Reagen
Be careful about what you say about Saint Reagen the Blessed. After all, he rebuilt the military after it was downsized in the early 70's. Wait- no, that was Carter.

Well, St. Ronnie the Virtuous made sure the military developed all those high tech weapons- like the stealth fighter and the 688 Class nuclear submarines and stuff. Oh, wait- that was Carter again.

Wait- St. Ronald the Divine fixed the economy... Crap, no- That was Clinton.

Reagen beat The Soviet Union! Oh, crap, wait- he didn't do that either. It fell on it's own after an internal power struggle after Reagen left office.

I remember, now- The Great Communicator brought back the hostages from Iran... Wait a second- they were released the day he was sworn in. He coudln't have done that. That would have been Carter again.

So what the heck *did* he do? Oh, yeah- inflation, deficent spending, money wasted on Star Wars programs that could not possibly work.

And THIS is the guy the want to put on our currency? I guess he spent enough of it.

Dang- It used to be you had to actually be a good president to get your face on currency. Or have a multibillion dollar aircraft carrier named after you.

At least I can understand naming a carrier after Bush the First- at least he was a Navy pilot. But Ronnie? Of course, I also seem to remember the tradition with Navy ships is that when they are named after a famous leader, they are named AFTER THE LEADER IS FRIGGIN' DEAD. Sheesh. What about all the other good names out there- Names with tradition behind them, like the Wasp, The Hornet, the America, etc.

10. That would be such an incredible insult to the memory of FDR
and the New Deal. They basically want to say, adios progress! There are new kids in town. Otherwise, why not replace Eisenhower on the 50 cent piece? Who gives a shit about the 50 cent piece anyway, or about Eisenhower for that matter?

Eisenhower was on the dollar before he was replaced with Susan B. Anthony before she was replaced with Sacagewa.

13. You're right.
Well then there's just no room at the monetary inn for Reagan. Period. Give him a stamp, if they're so desperate for a memorial with a monetary value on it. Then all the Dems can put him on their envelopes upside down.
