1. These newsmax types aren't too bright. . .
Edited on Wed Dec-03-03 03:38 PM by ET Awful
The hollow-point ammunition they are discussing is PERFECTLY suited for inside a crowded building, as the spreading out of the round insures that it will not travel through the target and hit someone else. Of course, someone looking for any little thing to bitch about would try to say something to the contrary.

Additionally, a double-action only Glock is very safe, that's why many police forces across the country carry them (something else these morons failed to mention).

The MP5 isn't highly controversial, it's a very standard weapon. That's why SWAT teams throughout the US use them.

I swear the folks at newsmax get dumber with every article they publish.

2. I find this quote hard to believe
Edited on Wed Dec-03-03 03:39 PM by truthspeaker
"Rules mandate that at least one bullet be present in the gun's chambers 'at all times.'"

I don't know much about guns, but I don't think that's possible. As far as I know only one bullet can be in the chamber, and cops and security guards do NOT walk around with a bullet in the chamber. And I've never heard of a Glock that didn't have a safety. Again, I could be wrong. But as ET mentioned above, lots of American cops carry Glock handguns, including the ones in my home city.

Also this:

"Earlier this year, the U.N. spirited out of New York City a cache of highly controversial sub-machine guns known as MP-5's"

Highly controversial? The MP-5 is one of the most popular submachine guns among American law enforcement. http://www.heckler-koch.de/html/english/behoerden/02_submachineguns/02_03_index.html">H&K MP5

4. Most cops do carry a round in the chamber
You don't have time to rack the slide in a gunfight.

5. A double action only Glock
doesn't have a safety, but it can't stay cocked either. You could pull the thing out of the holster and throw it against a wall and it wouldn't go off. You have to squeeze the trigger through two stages to fire the weapon. One cocks the hammer and one releases it. It's perfectly safe when used by someone with half a brain.

7. Gees, a Glock with no safety?
I've fired those guns, you could drop one on concrete and it WILL fire because the trigger and cock are REALLY sensitive.
