Who was the last candidate that really excited you.....

For me it was Gary Hart.

I was still pretty young. but I could vote....
He was the first politician who seemed to answer the questions,
and I liked his answers.

I was so upset when he committed political suicide.

Actually, several of the candidates running now excite me. Big fan of Edwards, Kerry, Dean etc. Like 'em all.

2. That was astonishing with Hart, wasn't it? He had so much promise.

Maybe he needed a beating to get over his stupidity.
God knows he's a formidable and smart man now. I hope
he can be of use to the country again.

John Kennedy was the first. That is sort of what I feel
about Clark. Its the same electricity. :)

Dean gives me comfort the way Clinton did. Warm, solid,
smart.

Wasn't too enthused about Clinton in 1992 until he chose Gore as his running mate. Then I became a huge partisan.

And, if anything, I feel even better about him today than I did back then.

Because this is really this first time I've felt this excited. It's the first time I've donated to a campaign and been at least a little active (meet-ups, bumper stickers, etc.). I've always been pleased with our presidential candidates in the past (no reason not to since there was no DU!), but not really excited till this year.

I had little problem with Gore (he was a worse candidate in 1988), but Bradley had the brilliance and integrity without the baggage. I had no problem getting behind Gore once his nomination was assured.

I never got the Hart thing, just like I don't get Dean now. Hart was always blabbing about "new ideas", but he never specified what they were. People fawned all over him for "new ideas! new ideas!", and I knew he was doomed with the JFK comparisons.
