2. I liked Bradley, thought he had a lot of charisma
something Al is a little short on. Not really sure why he bagged it, guess he just didn't realize what he was getting into which seems a little odd.

3. yes
Several reasons, one being that he had a better health care initiative, including an emphasis on women's health, which is inequitably treated in this country, and two, the Repubs couldn't get him on the idiotic "character" issue and the perception of Clinton's baggage, etc.

Plus, he supported real campaign finance reform. Ideally, the best match-up would have been between Bradley and McCain.

You are such a subversive, ZW.

I supported and worked for Bradley. I so hoped that he would enter the race for '04, but alas . . .

Edit: the health care issue and I thought he would make a much better leader.

4. No, I supported Gore
No, I supported Gore, but I like Bradley.

I was worried that both men might not connect well to
apolitical TV-watching American.

I think that's the major reason Bush is in the Whitehouse. Gore, outside of the convention, had problems connecting with the apolitical voters who make their decision based on "personality". Had he done so, it would have been a landslide (60%) in his favor. Bradley has the same problem.

6. Yes, Because Bill Bradley Used to Be My Senator.....
...when I lived in NJ. I thought he would make a great president. And when he dropped out of the race and supported Al Gore, so did I.

seemed that Bradley was the alternative to what Gore represented. Wheether true or not, the perception was there. I voted for Bradley on March 7th, 2000.

10. Bradley should have run with Gore as VP
would have been a good match with that healthcare angle

instead we got Lieberman the worst possible VP choice.

12. Absolutely not
The global environment has been my number one issue. Gore was/is the best candidate to understand the threat to humanity if we don't address this issue. I will always support Gore so that he can promote a world environmetal policy.

13. Yes - Still have my Bradley buttons
I thought he was better all around - plus wouldn't be linked to negative Clinton stuff- Brilliant and way ahead of the curve on civil rights in years past. Able to connect with more strata of voters from sports experience to Rhodes scholar. Always liked him. Gore ended up going after him harder than he did Bush, then seemed to think he had everything sewed up.

14. I was still a Libertarian at the time. Supported Bill for civil liberties.
Bradley seemed to be the most Libertarian of all the candidates. I still had a bad taste in my mouth because of Gore's game, music and television censorship kick, which is decidedly UNLIBERAL. I can't tell you how many people he pissed off when he and that ass Feebleman decided they they should be the purveyors of whats constitues "good clean fun". :grr:

Bradley also kept very low key about religion. He felt it was a personal thing and should be kept so. Gore tended to flaunt his religion. Although in hindsight, its probably the politically smart thing to do in this country. As demonstrated by John McCain's implosion.

Alas, the really good people never make it to the office. *sigh*

17. I was Pro-Bradley and Anti-Gore....I still am, in fact!
Bradley was much stronger on gay rights and health care. Like others have pointed out, Gore flaunted his religion and had a history of legislatively dallying with censorship. Cultural conservatism has no place in the Democratic Party, much less in the White House.

I supported and voted for Bradley not so much because I liked Bradley, but because Bradley was the only Democratic alternative to Gore.

I voted for Bradley in my state primaries (in April) out of principle, even though Bradley and McCain had both withdrawn by that point in time. Also refused to vote for Gore in the General Election. I did not support or campaign for Gore, nor will I ever in the future under any circumstances, because of the way Gore behaved during the 2000 primaries and General Election.

However, I did not support the idea of Bradley entering the 2004 primaries, especially after 9/11. We need someone with timely experience to lead the country in the post-9/11 era. Bradley doesn't have that experience.

Unfortunately, neither does Gore - - whose vice-presidential experience became irrelevant following 9/11. No matter what, Al Gore will NEVER have my support for the presidency. Ever.
