(Dec. 3) -- A Valley mother is in custody after police say the woman torched her own apartment in an attempt to kill her children and herself. Arson investigators say 32-year-old Jennifer Mendoza intentionally set fire to her apartment -- then disabled her smoke alarms.
Eyewitness News talked with police and residents Tuesday afternoon. And the story gets even more disturbing because 32-year-old Jennifer Mendoza may have torched her apartment with her children inside -- because she didn't have enough money to buy Christmas presents.
Complete story hereI caught this while I was in the breakroom at work this afternoon on the TV in there. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. And to think this happened as the economy is staging such a glorious comeback. Oh, and as an added bonus, I will also post in the Economics forum in just a moment about Nevada's sky-high bankruptcy rates. :eyes:
